The role of Manager, Competition Operations at NASCAR Event Management is a pivotal position dedicated to ensuring that every NASCAR race event meets the highest standards of preparation and execution. This role requires a highly skilled professional capable of overseeing multiple critical initiatives simultaneously related to the execution of NASCAR events, including National Series and Touring Series races, as well as the expansion into new and future racing venues. The Manager, Competition Operations acts as a project manager, race director for development and ARCA touring series events, and a primary liaison during racetrack construction projects. The position involves extensive travel to various racetracks nationwide to conduct site surveys, assess facility preparedness, and implement corrective measures to maintain exceptional competition standards.

In this role, the manager collaborates closely with broadcast partners, NASCAR Productions, and timing and scoring teams to coordinate technical aspects such as display equipment and camera placements, ensuring smooth production capabilities. They are also responsible for producing detailed operational handbooks that serve as essential references for key departments, facilitating efficient event troubleshooting and infrastructure understanding. Pre- and post-event logistics debriefs are another crucial aspect, helping align facility operations and prioritize future improvements. The manager additionally contributes to NASCAR's National Series rule book development, particularly concerning sporting regulations, and manages the precise minute-by-minute event schedules in coordination with various internal stakeholders. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred
  • Ten years of industry-related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in company software and hardware
  • Valid driver license
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Serve as a project manager on multiple critical initiatives related to NASCAR event execution
  • Serve as race director for NASCAR's development series and ARCA touring events leading all practice, qualifying, and race activities
  • Travel to assigned racetracks to conduct site surveys and ensure facility preparedness
  • Serve as liaison between NASCAR and venues during construction projects
  • Coordinate with broadcast partners, NASCAR Productions and timing and scoring on technical equipment and placements
  • Compile and submit reports on facility conditions and improvement plans
  • Produce operational handbooks for key departments
  • Lead pre- and post-event logistics debriefs with facilities and key departments
  • Participate in NASCAR National Series rule book development related to sporting regulations
  • Coordinate event schedules with track leads, media, event experience, and marketing personnel
