Job Description
USAA is a leading financial services group dedicated to supporting the military community and their families. Founded with a mission to empower members to achieve financial security, USAA offers a wide array of highly competitive products, exceptional customer service, and trusted financial advice. Known for its integrity, loyalty, and commitment to service, USAA has established itself as the number one choice for those who serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces, as well as their families. The culture at USAA is deeply rooted in core values such as honesty, integrity, loyalty, and service – values that shape how the company treats its employees and members alike. USAA is proud to support active-duty military spouses by providing flexible work arrangements, including remote or hybrid options when consistent with business needs.
The opportunity currently available at USAA is for a Manager, Claims Operations. This role is pivotal in leading a team of subrogation specialists who manage Auto, Property, or other claims subrogation processes. The Manager is responsible for serving members effectively by investigating, evaluating, and negotiating claims, ensuring that claims operations align with the company's mission of delivering outstanding member service. This position involves a strong leadership focus, including employee coaching, performance feedback, and career development to foster engagement and business results. The role also focuses on operational excellence by executing process improvements, driving organizational change, and ensuring regulatory compliance and risk management are adhered to within the claims function.
Located in one of several key USAA offices (San Antonio, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Colorado Springs, CO; Tampa, FL; or Chesapeake, VA), this role offers a flexible work environment requiring four days in the office each week, supporting a balance of collaboration and individual productivity. Candidates may lead specific subrogation teams such as Property, Auto Responder, or Auto Demander teams, based on business needs. The compensation for this position ranges from $103,450 to $197,730 annually, reflecting the candidate’s experience, location, and market data. USAA offers attractive pay incentives tied to corporate and individual performance. However, USAA does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
This managerial role demands a seasoned professional with a background in claims handling and leadership, capable of using data analytics to drive decisions and operational improvements. The Manager of Claims Operations is also crucial in fostering an environment that removes obstacles to success, champions change, manages workflow and workloads, and handles escalations with sound judgment. USAA is committed to a supportive workplace where employees have access to comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), pension, life insurance, paid time off, volunteer hours, and professional development opportunities.
Joining USAA means being part of a company that values its people and strives to create meaningful impacts in the military and financial community. You will take on a leadership role that is as much about people as it is about operations, contributing to USAA’s mission while advancing your career in a stable, values-driven organization.
