Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years experience in event management, food and beverage, or a related professional area
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in managing banquet operations and inventories
  • Ability to maintain sanitation and comply with regulations
  • Competence in scheduling and staff management
  • Customer service oriented
  • Ability to handle guest complaints and feedback effectively
  • Experience in conducting meetings and staff training
  • Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures
  • Capacity to develop and implement corrective action plans
  • Availability to work full-time at Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort, Honolulu, Hawaii
  • Willingness to participate in departmental and property meetings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years experience in event management, food and beverage, or related field
  • Knowledge of event-related laws and sanitation standards
  • Experience managing banquet operations and inventory
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to handle guest feedback and resolve complaints
  • Familiarity with food and wine pairings and current event trends
  • Ability to develop and maintain client relationships
  • Experience in conducting meetings and training
  • Capability to execute emergency and safety procedures
  • Proficiency in monitoring and improving service quality
  • Skilled in administrative and financial oversight

Job Duties

  • Projects supply needs for the department such as china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, and props
  • Applies knowledge of all laws related to events
  • Manages banquet operations to maximize customer satisfaction and profitability
  • Adheres to and enforces standards, policies, and procedures
  • Maintains sanitation levels and manages departmental inventories and equipment
  • Controls liquor costs using banquet beverage records and manages beverage inventory
  • Schedules banquet service staff to meet service standards and maximize profits
  • Develops lasting relationships with groups to retain and grow business
  • Sets departmental goals and delegates tasks
  • Conducts monthly department meetings with banquet team
  • Expands knowledge of food, wine pairings, and event trends
  • Acts as liaison to kitchen staff
  • Leads shifts and participates in event servicing
  • Sets positive guest relations examples
  • Gathers guest feedback and handles complaints
  • Empowers employees for excellent customer service
  • Ensures employee understanding of expectations
  • Strives to improve service performance
  • Reviews comment cards and satisfaction results
  • Executes emergency procedures and ensures staff safety training
  • Observes employee service behaviors and provides feedback
  • Monitors staff progress and leads discussions
  • Implements corrective action plans
  • Reviews survey results and addresses service challenges
