As the Manager, you will lead, guide, and train a team of assortment planners whose mission is to develop strategic product assortments that optimize sales and margin across departments, categories, and subcategories. Your responsibilities will include establishing and standardizing best practices in assortment planning, ensuring the right number of SKUs per category and cluster, managing minimum presentation quantities, and overseeing total SKU receipt quantities. You will use advanced assortment planning tools and contribute to tying merchandise financial plans directly to corporate financial goals.
Your role also involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams including Merchandising, Inventory Management, and Merchandise Planning to align assortment strategies with inventory flow and sales plans. Job Requirements
- Experience managing at least 3-5 direct reports
- Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS, BFA) or equivalent
- Background in assortment planning or merchandising
- Relevant experience with key retail operations including Merchandising, Store Operations, Logistics, Finance, Information Systems, and Planning
- Proven ability in creating and presenting item plans
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to train, manage, and motivate others
- Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs
- Ability to lead and work within a team
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS, BFA) or equivalent

Job Duties
- Train best practices and standardized processes for assortment planning
- Establish clusters by category
- Determine number of SKUs per category
- Determine number of SKUs per category per cluster
- Set minimum presentation quantities for SKU and cluster
- Manage total SKU receipt quantities and flow by cluster
- Analyze premarket data
- Utilize assortment planning tools
- Tie top-down merchandise financial plans to department and category levels
- Oversee training and development of the assortment planning team
- Implement strategy to incorporate space and presentation standards into assortment process
- Partner with Merchant partners to understand and drive category and product direction and sales plans
- Partner with Inventory Management team to ensure smooth receipt flow
- Partner with Merchandise Planning to align plans and inventory management activities
- Participate in category level merchandise strategy reviews
- Participate in monthly performance review processes
