The General Manager role at Beau Jo's is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager or Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidate will ensure smooth shift operations, manage assistant managers, and enforce strict cash handling procedures to safeguard company assets. This role requires a dynamic individual adept in restaurant marketing and promotions who can manage the overall restaurant budget efficiently. The General Manager is also the primary point of contact for guest comments, requiring professional and prompt resolution skills to maintain a reputation for exemplary customer service. Communication is key in this role, as the manager will handle employee issues through various channels, including one-on-one interactions and management tools such as the Red Book.

Additionally, the General Manager will be expected to conduct ongoing performance reviews, demonstrating a leadership style that motivates and maintains high team performance. This position demands a thorough understanding of company procedures, including crisis management protocols, to ensure operational continuity in all situations. As a self-starter, the General Manager must actively drive sales by creating strategic partnerships with local businesses and schools, thereby enhancing the restaurant’s community presence and customer base.

Beyond the essential duties, the General Manager will maintain departmental responsibilities which may encompass oversight of roles such as Bar Manager, Service Manager, and Host Manager. Hiring, training, and developing restaurant personnel are continuous priorities, underpinned by a commitment to safe food handling and strict enforcement of safety guidelines throughout the establishment. The manager must also be proficient in handling Workers’ Compensation and General Liability claims according to proper procedures to mitigate risks. The role requires quick decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment, including delegation of break schedules, side work, and station assignments to ensure operational efficiency. The General Manager must be versatile and ready to undertake additional duties as assigned by the management team, embodying a solution-oriented and proactive leadership approach.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years working in restaurant environment
  • Minimum of 1 year General Manager experience preferred
