The Manager role serves as the essential support to the General Manager (GM), acting as their primary backup in operational management and leadership. This position requires a dedicated individual who can seamlessly fill in for the GM across all responsibilities during their absence, ensuring smooth restaurant operations without disruption. The person in this role is vital in maintaining the quality of both product and customer service, supporting aspects such as team member performance, cost controls, budget management, and sales initiatives. Additionally, the Manager handles operational logistics including equipment maintenance, food and beverage inventory and presentation, vendor relations, and cash handling.
In daily operations, the Manager communicates and collaborates with team members, guests, vendors, and higher-level personnel to address needs efficiently. A significant part of the role involves proficiency in kitchen management duties, including enforcing safe food handling protocols compliant with local health standards and company policies. The Manager actively contributes to business strategy by engaging in the Quarterly Business Plan, partnering with the GM to develop effective tactics that contribute to sales growth and operational excellence.
A hallmark of this role is leadership and mentorship. The Manager exemplifies the organization’s Service 101 principles and management methods, setting a positive example and holding the team accountable to high standards. They influence budget adherence during shifts and are deeply involved in training team members and developing trainers. Supported by structured systems such as the Manager Timeline and quality Line Checks, the Manager is also accountable for monthly maintenance schedules to ensure equipment and facility conditions meet guest and staff needs while staying within budget.
Career development is a key focus, with the Manager actively progressing along a career development path designed to prepare them for eventual promotion to General Manager. This includes participating in decision-making regarding staffing including hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions, as well as providing timely, constructive feedback. The role demands high physical activity including standing and walking for the entire shift, frequently lifting heavy items, working in varied environmental conditions, and occasionally performing duties in operational roles like food server or line cook.
Overall, this Manager role is dynamic, challenging, and essential to maintaining the high standards of the franchise restaurant. It offers an opportunity for motivated individuals to grow professionally within a supportive and fast-paced environment, contributing directly to successful restaurant operations and exceptional guest experiences.
