The Events & Community Manager role at Rho is a pivotal position designed to amplify Rho's presence in the Austin startup ecosystem and across the broader Texas VC and founder markets. The individual in this role will be responsible for fostering authentic, meaningful relationships within these communities, positioning Rho as the go-to banking platform for startups. This role requires a leader who seamlessly blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution, someone who is passionate about community building and who truly understands the pulse of the startup ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will leverage their deep knowledge and existing network within the Austin and Texas startup scenes to create compelling community programs and events. These include curated dinners, roundtables, wellness gatherings, and high-energy social events aimed at diverse founder stages from seed to Series A. The role entails managing event strategies, building partnerships with venture capital firms, accelerators, and ecosystem organizations, and driving customer engagement through targeted programming and exclusive events that nurture brand loyalty.

This position is highly dynamic, requiring a "boots on the ground" approach to meet founders and investors regularly, establish Rho's brand presence, and continuously optimize event and community strategies based on data-driven insights. The Events & Community Manager will be responsible for owning the end-to-end event lifecycle, from concept and planning through execution and success measurement. They must bring exceptional communication skills and the ability to build trust and credibility within a competitive startup environment.

Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in community management or related field
  • demonstrated success in building and scaling engaged professional communities
  • strong knowledge of the Austin and Texas startup ecosystems
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to travel locally as needed
  • proficiency with event management software and community platforms
  • strong organizational and project management skills
  • data-driven mindset with experience tracking KPIs and program impact

Job Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of hands-on experience building and scaling engaged professional communities with demonstrated success in growing membership and driving meaningful engagement metrics year over year
  • strong existing network within the Austin and broader Texas startup ecosystem including established relationships with founders, operators, VCs, and other key ecosystem players
  • a boots on the ground mentality and a proven ability to become ubiquitous in a market quickly meeting people at scale and turning connections into community
  • deep understanding of startup ecosystem dynamics, terminology, and founder/operator needs across different stages
  • strong sense of taste for events and community initiatives that resonate in the startup ecosystem with the founder audience
  • track record of establishing strategic partnerships with relevant organizations, thought leaders, and community champions to amplify reach and impact
  • data-driven approach to community building with experience setting and tracking relevant KPIs, running experiments, and using insights to optimize community initiatives
  • exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with the proven ability to connect authentically with diverse community members both online and in-person
  • background working at a high-growth startup, VC firm, or scaleup in a community, marketing, or ecosystem role
  • prior experience building communities specifically for B2B SaaS, fintech, or enterprise software companies
  • active social media presence and personal brand within the startup ecosystem particularly on platforms like Twitter/X and LinkedIn is a plus

Job Duties

  • build and execute a comprehensive events roadmap tailored to Austin's distinct founder audiences
  • manage budget and track program success metrics
  • foster relationships with VCs, startup founders, and ecosystem builders across Austin and key Texas markets
  • create a network that generates qualified customer leads
  • own end-to-end event planning and execution, including establishing Rho's presence with at least one major anchor event in the market
  • implement scalable systems to maintain quality as programs grow
  • build strategic relationships with VC firms, accelerators, and community organizations
  • create opportunities that expand Rho's reach
  • cultivate a vibrant community among Rho customers through targeted programming and exclusive events
  • represent Rho in the Austin startup ecosystem building relationships that position the company as the go-to banking platform for founders
