The role available is a full-time Make Ready / Porter Technician position, which plays a critical part in ensuring vacant apartments are prepared promptly and efficiently for new tenants. This role is essential to the community’s overall functionality and resident satisfaction, as the Make Ready / Porter Technician works closely with the maintenance team to address necessary repairs, conduct improvements, and maintain the grounds. The position offers an hourly wage ranging from $18 to $18.50, reflecting the value placed on technical skills and dedication to property excellence.

As a Make Ready / Porter Technician at The Legacy Apartments, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks that include repairing and improving apartments to bring them to market-ready status. Your duties will also extend to the upkeep of common areas, managing snow removal, and ensuring the property is clean, safe, and welcoming. You will be expected to assist the maintenance team with light tasks when necessary and to report maintenance or safety issues to management promptly. Additionally, this role requires providing excellent customer service to residents, reflecting the community’s commitment to resident care.

This technician position requires practical knowledge in various maintenance skills such as painting, appliance handling, key making, and rekeying units. The ideal candidate will have at least 12 months of onsite experience, be physically capable of handling lifting and maneuvering tasks, and must be bilingual in Spanish to communicate effectively within the diverse community. Flexibility in working hours, including the willingness to work overtime or weekends when needed, is also important.

Job Requirements

  • at least 12 months of onsite experience
  • should have knowledge of painting
  • basic makeready skills
  • knowledge of how to make keys and rekey units
  • knowledge of appliances
  • able to frequently stand, walk for extended periods of time, push, pull, lift, carry or maneuver of up to 40 pounds independently and 100 pounds with assistance
  • must be bilingual (Spanish)
  • willing to work overtime as needed, on weekends as needed

Job Duties

  • prepare vacant apartments for market ready status through turn-over repairs and improvements
  • maintain snow removal, cleaning and maintenance of grounds, including common areas
  • keep the property clean and free of trash and debris
  • assist the maintenance team with light tasks when needed
  • report any maintenance or safety concerns to management
  • provide residents with outstanding customer service
