The Maintenance/Operator Technician (Master Technician) position at Graham Packaging in Prattville, AL, offers an exciting opportunity to be part of this thriving, culture-focused organization. This is a first shift role from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm with weekly pay starting at $31.35 per hour. As a Master Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining injection and blow molding machines to ensure safety, high-quality container production, and optimal machine efficiency. This role involves performing process setups, changeovers, quality checks, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on production equipment. The successful candidate must be proficient with electrical systems and be able to work with programmable logic controllers (PLC) or be willing to receive training. Experience with High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) technologies is preferred along with familiarity with blow molding processes.

This position demands an individual who can work with minimal supervision in a safe and efficient manner, taking the initiative to perform inspections and repairs that uphold both product quality and machine reliability. Technicians will also assist with installing, programming, and troubleshooting machinery such as conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and robots. Job Requirements

  • 6 months’ prior experience operating or maintaining blow molding/injection molding machines or similar equipment
  • Experience with electrical systems
  • Understanding and operation of PLC or willing to obtain training
  • Working knowledge of HDPE and/or PET technologies preferred
  • Must be able to pass all requirements to become an “electrically authorized” employee in accordance with the corporate Electrical Safety Training Program
  • Computer usage and typing skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to safety and quality standards
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks

Job Qualifications

  • 6 months’ prior experience operating or maintaining blow molding/injection molding machines or similar equipment (in lieu of related degree/diploma)
  • Experience with electrical systems
  • Understanding and operation of PLC, or willing to obtain training
  • Working knowledge of HDPE and/or PET technologies preferred
  • Direct experience with blow molding on any platform preferred
  • Must be able to pass all requirements to become an “electrically authorized” employee in accordance with the corporate Electrical Safety Training Program
  • Computer usage and typing skills are essential

Job Duties

  • Operate and maintain/assist with maintaining a group of plastic blow molding/injection machines and auxiliary equipment at identified optimal performance, including mold insert and color changes, producing containers in a safe and high quality method while minimizing and reducing scrap
  • Perform process set up and establish set up sheets of injection stretch blow molding machines to improve machine efficiency and reduce scrap in an accurate and timely manner
  • Operate equipment to minimize the generation and maximize the consumption of regrind, purge and scrap within customer specifications where applicable
  • Responsible for product quality, making frequent on time quality checks on products being produced from established quality standards, identifying and making necessary changes and adjustments
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance checks on all equipment, including lubrication and checks of all equipment and systems in accordance with preventative maintenance schedules, completing and maintaining all required documentation and escalating issues as necessary
  • Perform minor repair on all production equipment such as case sealers, trimmers, blow molder extruder, conveyor systems and material loading and unloading as required
  • Assist with installing, program, repair and maintain machinery and equipment such as conveyor systems, hydraulic equipment, pneumatic equipment, compressors, chillers, dryers, auto-packers, robots or programmable controllers as well as troubleshooting fluid power circuits and making necessary repairs
  • Perform trial runs on all new molds, tooling, resins, and color concentrates
  • Perform all tasks with minimal supervision, in a prompt, safe, and efficient, manner including replacement of fasteners, guards, valves, cylinders and safe ties
  • Maintain work area to acceptable safety and housekeeping standards
  • Verify material usage per standards
  • Properly identify regrind and chunk produced
  • Other duties as assigned
