Headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, Greystar manages and operates an extensive portfolio valued at over $300 billion, spanning more than 265 markets worldwide. With offices across North America, Europe, South America, and the Asia-Pacific region, Greystar has established itself as the largest apartment operator in the United States, managing over one million units and beds on a global scale. The company’s asset management reaches nearly $79 billion, including over $35 billion in development assets and $36.5 billion in regulatory assets. Founded in 1993 by Bob Faith, Greystar aims to deliver world-class service in rental residential real estate through innovation, expertise, and a commitment to excellence. This role is for a Service Technician who will perform technical and mechanical work vital to maintaining the physical aspects of Greystar’s properties. This includes buildings, grounds, amenities, and common areas, ensuring they meet the company's standards for cleanliness, appearance, safety, and overall functionality. The position focuses on completing work orders generated from resident service requests and scheduled preventative maintenance duties by diagnosing and repairing defects or issues efficiently and in compliance with set policies, safety standards, and code requirements. The technician plays a crucial role in the "make-ready" process, preparing vacant apartment homes for new tenants by performing inspections, scheduling necessary contractors, completing maintenance tasks, and ensuring high-quality finishes.
The Service Technician supports operations by responsibly managing property materials and inventory, documenting service requests accurately, and aiding in maintaining grounds and amenities. They contribute to cost savings by prioritizing repairs over replacements, practicing efficient use of tools and materials. Additional responsibilities include adherence to safety and risk management protocols, periodic inspections of contractor work, and helping identify property maintenance needs to management. Physical demands require standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders, and the ability to work in diverse weather conditions, while lifting weights up to 25 pounds independently and 50 pounds with assistance. Flexibility is key as the role may include evening, weekend, and holiday on-call duties.
To qualify, candidates should have EPA certifications for refrigerant recycling, required state and local certifications, and a valid driver’s license if operating property vehicles like golf carts is necessary. The hourly pay ranges between $22.00 and $25.00, with compensation influenced by experience, skills, and location. Additional financial incentives include eligibility for performance-based bonuses in both corporate and onsite settings.
Greystar offers robust benefits including competitive medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, along with generous paid time off starting from day one. Other perks include onsite housing discounts, a six-week paid sabbatical after 10 years, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid parental leave, fertility benefit reimbursements, employee assistance programs, and various insurance options. This career opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking to be part of a prestigious company renowned for quality, safety, and community in the real estate industry.
