We are seeking a qualified Maintenance Technician to join our team at The Barclay at Vero Beach, an Independent Living community. This role is integral to maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and aesthetic appeal of our property, ensuring it remains a welcoming environment for residents, their families, and guests. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for executing and adhering to a preventative maintenance program overseen by the Director of Facility Management. Your efforts will help uphold the high standards of our community’s infrastructure and enhance the comfort and safety of our independent living residents.

The Maintenance Technician position demands excellent organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly and effectively to maintenance needs. You will be tasked with routine maintenance such as paint touch-ups, building and grounds upkeep, ensuring lighting and pathways are clear, and managing debris removal from the property. Moreover, you will provide critical documentation and records of maintenance activities including fire safety systems, kitchen ventilation, elevator inspections, HVAC and PTAC services, and emergency equipment like generators.

Your role will also extend to supporting new residents during move-in processes, demonstrating a commitment to hospitality and exceptional service. This position offers a unique opportunity to enhance operational efficacy while contributing significantly to resident satisfaction and safety in a supportive and dynamic senior living environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Working knowledge of OSHA compliance and laws
  • Construction experience in coordinating building repairs
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record

Job Duties

  • Successfully follows a preventative maintenance program set forth by the Director of Facility Management, including paint touch-up, grounds and building tour readiness, lights are working, gutters are free and clear of debris, pathways are clear, trash and debris are removed from the property
  • Practices excellent time management skills and completes tasks within company time frames
  • Ensures that building and grounds are clean, immaculate and appealing to residents, guests, referral sources and prospects
  • Provide accurate documentation as it applies to maintenance records on all systems and equipment, including but not limited to the fire sprinkler system, fire extinguishers, fire monitoring system, kitchen hood cleaning, elevator inspections, boiler permit, nurse call system, emergency back-up generator, automobile maintenance, HVAC and PTAC service
  • Assists new residents and family members with move-in tasks during admissions and discharges
