The role offered is for a Service Technician at a stabilized, garden-style property comprising 542 units. This position requires hands-on technical and mechanical work to maintain the physical assets of the property to meet company standards for cleanliness, appearance, safety, and functioning. The ideal candidate will have between 1 to 2 years of experience in property maintenance or related fields and possess relevant certifications, including EPA certifications for refrigerant recycling where applicable. The schedule demands weekend availability and on-call duties, reflecting the essential nature of maintaining a high standard of resident experience at all times.
Service Technicians at Greystar are responsible for completing work orders from resident service requests and preventative maintenance tasks, preparing vacant apartments for new tenants, managing inventory of supplies and materials, and supporting cost-control initiatives. They also assist in maintaining common areas by cleaning, pressure washing, and performing minor repairs as needed. The role emphasizes proactive safety compliance, including participation in safety meetings and incident reporting. Physical demands include the ability to work outdoors and indoors under varying weather conditions, lifting and maneuvering weights, climbing ladders, and flexibility in scheduling to handle on-call responsibilities during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
This position also offers a competitive hourly pay range of $20.19 to $24.04 (specific to the Pittsburg location), eligibility for a 20% housing discount, and the opportunity to participate in bonus programs. Job Requirements
- 1-2 years experience required
- EPA Type 1 and II or Universal certification for refrigerant recycling (for certified service technicians)
- Valid driver’s license if applicable
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and on-call
- Must be physically able to perform tasks including lifting, climbing, and working in varied weather conditions
- Completion of safety training and compliance with company safety policies
- Must be able to complete required paperwork accurately and timely
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of relevant maintenance or service technician experience
- EPA Type 1 and II or Universal certification for refrigerant recycling (for certified technicians)
- Valid driver’s license for operating property vehicles such as golf carts if required
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and on-call shifts
- Knowledge of safety and risk management practices applicable to property maintenance
Job Duties
- Complete assigned work orders from resident requests and preventative maintenance
- Complete the make-ready process for vacant apartment homes including inspections, scheduling, repairs, and final inspections
- Follow procedures for accessing and managing inventory including supplies, tools, and materials
- Complete documentation and paperwork accurately and timely for service tracking
- Assist in maintaining grounds, common areas, and amenities by performing cleaning, trash pickup, pressure washing, and minor repairs
- Support cost-cutting through efficient use of parts, materials, and tools
- Comply with safety policies by attending training, reporting incidents, and participating in safety meetings
