The role of Maintenance Technician at Equity Residential is vital in supporting the company’s mission of delivering exceptional living experiences to residents. This position involves addressing resident service requests promptly and efficiently, ensuring the maintenance and repair of apartment units and community facilities. A Maintenance Technician will perform a range of hands-on tasks including plumbing, electrical work, HVAC equipment maintenance where applicable, and general interior repair such as painting. Maintaining the community grounds and performing regular inspections to identify repair or replacement needs are also essential functions of the job. The role demands a proactive approach to preventative maintenance to uphold property standards and market readiness of apartments.

This position operates on a scheduled workweek from Sunday through Thursday, from 10am to 7pm, with the possibility of responding to emergencies outside of regular hours. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary if operating motorized vehicles during work. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to troubleshoot and repair plumbing electrical appliances HVAC equipment if applicable and perform interior repairs and painting preferred
  • knowledge of federal and state apartment housing laws
  • valid driver’s license good driving record auto insurance and reliable transportation if operating motorized vehicle
  • computer literacy and effective communication skills
  • must be able to work any assigned shift including weekends
  • must be able to respond to emergencies after normal business hours and on weekends when assigned on-call responsibilities
  • ability to perform physical activities including prolonged standing walking climbing sweeping stooping kneeling shoveling crouching lifting and handling materials
  • frequent lifting carrying materials and equipment up to 50 lbs
  • service team employees must use their own smartphone updated with security compliance
