The Maintenance Technician role at Balfour Beatty Communities is a vital position responsible for maintaining the physical condition, safety, and overall upkeep of the residential communities managed by the company. Technicians ensure that all resident service requests are addressed promptly and all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standard, thereby directly contributing to the satisfaction and comfort of residents. This position involves diagnosing maintenance issues, performing necessary repairs, and coordinating with other maintenance personnel and contractors to ensure smooth operations. The role supports a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24/7 maintenance coverage.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED graduate level
- Minimum of 7 years maintenance experience with no certifications or 4 years experience with EPA 608 Universal required
- Approved designations or degree, license, certification in at least one of the following: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Appliance Repair Certification or Carpentry
- Valid state-issued driver’s license with a safe driving record
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to diagnose problems and implement repairs
- Ability to perform quality control on work and repairs completed
- Ability to provide guidance and training to less senior technicians
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Required training for Maintenance Tech III to be completed within 15 months of hire or promotion date
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED graduate level
- Minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience with no certifications or 4 years experience with EPA 608 Universal required
- Approved designations or degree, license, certification in at least one of the following: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Appliance Repair Certification or Carpentry
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills
- Advanced knowledge in at least one of the following disciplines: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry
- Ability to diagnose problems and implement repairs
- Ability to perform quality control on work and repairs completed
- Demonstrated ability to train on skill trades
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to provide guidance and training to less senior technicians
- Required training for Maintenance Tech III completed within 15 months of hire or promotion date
- Valid, state-issued driver’s license with a safe driving record is required
Job Duties
- Oversees one or more assets and supervise general maintenance engineers and technicians
- Has specific property maintenance responsibilities including general maintenance and orderliness of property HVAC, mechanical, electrical, utilities and lighting systems
- Conducts inspections and performs repairs
- Directs mechanics, technicians, and outside contractors on assigned projects
- Controls inventory of parts and equipment
- Coordinates all maintenance related and contractor activities
- Ensures successful execution of all company safety and environmental policies and procedures
- Delivers the highest level of resident satisfaction through responsive, consistent, positive and professional interactions
- Works a rotating on call schedule to provide 24/7 maintenance coverage
