The maintenance department at UniFirst is an integral division responsible for the upkeep and seamless operation of the company's industrial equipment and systems. UniFirst currently seeks a Maintenance Tech II who will become a vital part of this team. This role is designed for individuals who are reliable, hardworking, and eager to develop their skills in industrial maintenance. Maintenance Tech IIs at UniFirst play a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency by performing troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, installation, and testing of various mechanical and electronic equipment. This includes handling complex components like Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), boilers, wastewater pre-treatment systems, and other industrial machinery.
This position offers a standard Monday to Friday work schedule, with periodic overtime during nights and weekends, providing a structured yet flexible working environment. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Valid driver’s license
- Safe driving record
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Two-year technical degree in an appropriate background preferred
- Knowledgeable in industrial maintenance of facilities and equipment
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment
- Applicable military experience considered
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English
- Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills
- Lockout/Tagout experience
Job Duties
- Troubleshoot sources of equipment problems through observation and use of precision measuring and testing instruments
- Assist other maintenance personnel with emergency and non-emergency repairs
- Troubleshoot and repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and associated control systems
- Follow blueprints, schematics, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications
- Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment system testing, record results in logbooks / computer systems and make necessary chemical adjustments as required
- Perform daily and weekly safety checks on boilers and make necessary repairs as required
- Inspect motor, belts, fluid levels, replace filters and perform other maintenance actions in accordance with maintenance procedures
- Performing basic welding activities to effect repairs on facilities and equipment
- Inspect, clean and lubricate shafts, bearings gears and other equipment parts in accordance with work procedures and technical manual
- Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
