With nearly a century of combined utility industry experience, Irby is a leading fulfillment and solutions provider serving a broad range of sectors, including electrical power, natural gas, and broadband services. The company operates through various business segments such as distribution, transmission, substation, generation, renewable energy, EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction), fiber/broadband communications, and gas. This extensive portfolio enables Irby to offer innovative products and customized services tailored to meet the needs of a nationwide client base. Irby prides itself on being a company that not only connects manufacturers to their customers but also provides end-to-end logistical, operational, sales, project management, and data analysis support.

The role of the Maintenance Technician at Irby Utilities is an important position that focuses on ensuring the quality and safety of essential tools and equipment used throughout the utility distribution process. This full-time role entails performing detailed diagnostic assessments and repairs on a variety of tools, including hand tools, hydraulic systems, battery-powered devices, hoists, and hot sticks. The Maintenance Technician will be expected to conduct fiber-optic cable splicing, inspect tools for functionality and safety, identify necessary repair parts, and assist in preparing cost estimates for customers. Additionally, the role involves ordering parts, repairing tools to meet quality standards, performing high-voltage testing, and building custom rope products and grounding sets.

This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with hydraulic systems, and adherence to safety protocols. Irby Utilities values technicians who can work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment, maintaining a positive attitude and fostering strong professional relationships with customers and coworkers. Data accuracy and proper documentation are also critical components of this role, requiring the technician to enter information meticulously into computer systems.

Aside from offering a challenging and rewarding work environment, Irby Utilities provides several competitive benefits, including a 401K plan, comprehensive medical plans covering medical, dental, and vision, paid time off, company holidays, and flexible spending accounts for health and dependent care. Employees also have access to tuition reimbursement, employee assistance programs, employee discounts, as well as long-term and short-term disability and life insurance coverage. These benefits reflect Irby's commitment to supporting the health, financial security, and professional growth of its workforce.

Irby Utilities operates under the umbrella of Sonepar, a company committed to equal employment opportunity and inclusion. The organization welcomes applicants without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected status, emphasizing a fully inclusive and supportive work environment. Reasonable accommodations are provided to qualified individuals to ensure they can participate fully in the application process, perform essential job functions, and enjoy the benefits of employment.
