Aloft Hotels, a dynamic and contemporary hotel brand under the Marriott International portfolio, offers guests a vibrant and welcoming environment characterized by modern design and a strong sense of community. Located at 191 Dorrance Street in Providence, Rhode Island, Aloft is recognized for its unique approach to the hospitality industry, blending style with functionality to meet diverse guest needs, whether for business, leisure, or social gatherings. As part of Marriott International, a global leader in hospitality known for its dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Aloft Hotels maintains an environment where employees from various backgrounds are valued and the company culture fosters both personal and professional growth. This position is full-time and based on-site, requiring hands-on involvement with the hotel's operational maintenance; it is categorized within the engineering and facilities sector and classified as a non-management role, emphasizing skill development and teamwork over supervisory duties.
The Maintenance Technician role at Aloft Hotels is a critical part of the facility management team, responsible for ensuring the hotel environment operates smoothly and safely. This role entails responding promptly and professionally to guest repair requests, communicating effectively with guests and guests to resolve maintenance issues, and performing routine preventive maintenance. The technician will have exposure to various systems including air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, pneumatic and electronic controls, carpentry, and kitchen equipment. Key responsibilities also include performing surface preparation, painting, minor repairs of drywall and wood trim, and managing maintenance inventory. Additionally, the technician will employ Lockout/Tagout procedures to uphold safety standards during maintenance activities.
This position demands a versatile individual capable of troubleshooting and repairing diverse hotel equipment and guestroom items, from plumbing fixtures to electrical components and electronic devices like televisions. Physical requirements include the ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds, work on ladders, and maintain a professional appearance at all times. The role includes daily communication and coordination with other shifts to ensure seamless operations and full compliance with all company safety and security policies. Basic computer skills such as managing air handler schedules and temperature adjustments are also necessary.
Joining Aloft Hotels offers the opportunity to be part of a team that values uniqueness, confidence, and creativity, supporting employees to achieve the best version of themselves while driving excellence in guest service and facility maintenance. The position is ideal for candidates with some prior experience in general maintenance and painting, ideally within the hospitality industry, who hold a valid driver’s license and are eager to grow their technical skills and career in hotel engineering.
