Job Description
Greystar is a leading, fully integrated global real estate platform specializing in property management, investment management, development, and construction services focused primarily on institutional-quality rental housing. Established in 1993 by Bob Faith, Greystar has grown to become the largest operator of apartments in the United States, managing over one million units worldwide. Headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, the company operates in more than 265 markets globally with offices spanning North America, Europe, South America, and the Asia-Pacific region. With nearly $79 billion in assets under management, including over $35 billion in development assets and $36.5 billion in regulatory assets, Greystar delivers best-in-class services across diverse real estate platforms.
The Service Technician position at Greystar is a crucial role responsible for maintaining the physical aspects of residential properties to ensure they meet the company’s high standards of cleanliness, safety, appearance, and operational functionality. This role involves technical and mechanical work to maintain buildings, grounds, amenities, and common areas aligned with company standards. The Service Technician completes assigned work orders that arise from resident service requests or preventative maintenance schedules by accurately diagnosing issues and making necessary repairs while complying with established safety protocols, regulations, and company policies.
Key responsibilities include completing the make-ready process to prepare vacant apartments for new residents, which involves inspections, coordinating vendors, managing supplies, and ensuring all required maintenance is completed before occupancy. The technician also supports efficient inventory management processes by tracking and returning materials appropriately and advising maintenance supervisors on reordering needs. Furthermore, this role involves supporting property upkeep by performing tasks such as trash and debris removal, pressure washing, general cleaning, and painting when necessary.
Safety compliance is paramount in this position. The technician must participate in property safety meetings, complete OSHA and other mandatory training, and promptly report any incidents or accidents. On occasion, the technician may inspect contractor and vendor work to confirm alignment with quality standards. Physical demands include the ability to work comfortably in various weather conditions and environments, handle physical tasks involving lifting and maneuvering weights up to 50 pounds with assistance, and maintain flexibility in scheduling including being on call during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Candidates must possess EPA certifications (Type 1 and II or Universal) for refrigerant handling as applicable, valid state and local certifications, and a driver’s license if operation of a golf cart is required on the property. The hourly wage for this position ranges from $23 to $25, and employees may be eligible for various bonus programs based on individual and company performance metrics. Greystar provides a comprehensive benefits package that enhances the employee experience and supports long-term career growth. This package includes competitive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options, generous paid time off including vacation, personal, sick days, and holidays, as well as a 401(k) plan with company match. Additional benefits include parental leave, fertility benefits, employee assistance programs, and various insurance plans.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a stable and rewarding career in property maintenance with a global leader in real estate management. Greystar values diversity and inclusion and is an equal opportunity employer, welcoming qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, gender identity, or other protected characteristics. The company is committed to maintaining a safe and ethical hiring process and encourages applicants to report any suspicious communication.
