As a Maintenance Technician at Invitation Homes, you will be an integral part of the team responsible for performing high-quality maintenance services in single-family rental homes. This role not only focuses on technical ability across multiple trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC repairs but also emphasizes outstanding customer service to enhance the residents' living experience. You will be performing work requests, maintaining vacant properties during turnovers, and conducting proactive maintenance visits called ProCare visits. Using company-supplied tools, mobile apps, and technology, you will track, schedule, and complete maintenance efficiently while respecting the resident's home environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-5+ years of proven experience in residential repairs and maintenance or related building maintenance
  • OSHA 10 certification or commitment to obtain within 90 days
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Comfort using mobile devices and applications
  • Ability to work regular hours including occasional weekends and holidays
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting over 50 pounds
  • Ability to provide own hand and power tools

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-5+ years of proven experience in residential repairs and maintenance or related building maintenance
  • OSHA 10 certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Certifications such as EPA Type I, Type II, EPA Universal, HVAC, or CPO are a plus
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication
  • Comfort using mobile devices like iPad or iPhone and mobile applications
  • Understanding of residential construction and mechanical systems including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, sheetrock, HVAC (minor) and appliances
  • Current driver’s license and automobile insurance
  • Ability to work regularly including some weekends and holidays
  • Ability to provide and use basic hand and power tools
  • Physical ability to perform frequent climbing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, lifting over 50 pounds, talking and hearing

Job Duties

  • Completing maintenance service requests across multiple trades
  • Providing excellent customer service and promoting a quality living experience for all residents
  • Performing required work while demonstrating respect for resident’s home
  • Completing regular proactive maintenance visits (ProCare) and related checklist via mobile app
  • Educating residents about maintenance topics and functional systems of their rental home
  • Conducting general property condition assessments and alerting property management of urgent issues
  • Using technician-specific reports to identify improvement opportunities
  • Performing repairs in vacant properties during the turn process
  • Properly using and maintaining company tools, materials, and vehicles
  • Preparing for upcoming appointments daily to ensure readiness
  • Adhering to all company safety guidelines
  • Performing other duties as assigned
