The Maintenance Technician role at Equity Residential is essential in ensuring the overall functionality and aesthetic appeal of residential communities. This position operates on a Tuesday to Saturday schedule from 9 am to 6 pm, designed to provide consistent support and timely response to resident needs during peak times. The role involves addressing resident service requests promptly and efficiently, performing a variety of hands-on maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical work, HVAC repairs, appliance fixes, and interior repairs like painting. This technician is also responsible for preparing apartments to be market-ready, maintaining common areas and grounds, and conducting regular inspections to identify repairs or replacements necessary for sustaining property standards.

With a competitive salary range between $22.73 to $27.78 per hour, dependent upon skills, experience, and qualifications, the role offers overtime pay and performance incentives. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, appliances, HVAC equipment and perform interior repairs and painting preferred
  • knowledge of federal and state apartment housing laws
  • a valid driver’s license, good driving record, auto insurance, and reliable transportation if operating a motorized vehicle during work
  • computer literacy and effective communication skills in English
  • ability to work assigned shifts including weekends and respond to emergencies after hours when assigned on-call
  • ability to perform physical activities including prolonged standing, walking, climbing, sweeping, stooping, kneeling, shoveling, crouching, lifting and handling materials up to 50 lbs
  • use of personal smartphone with updated software and compliance with security systems for job duties
