The Clark, New Jersey location of Kerry is part of its Taste Division, which specializes in producing high-quality flavors and ingredients. This facility is distinct with two separate buildings: the North building, where natural flavoring and essential oils are crafted, characterized by a fruity aroma, and the South building, known for producing seasonings used in meat, chicken broth, and beef gravy, often filling the area with savory and garlic scents. Located at 160 Terminal Ave, Clark, NJ 07066, this site exemplifies Kerry's dedication to excellence in taste innovation. The company is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join its 2nd shift team, working Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays as needed, from 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM.
As a Maintenance Technician at Kerry, you will hold a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of packaging machinery and production lines. You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex equipment, directly supporting the production process and helping maintain a safe and efficient warehouse environment. This role demands strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach towards equipment management and safety standards. The Maintenance Technician will collaborate closely with production operators and fellow maintenance staff to resolve equipment issues, perform preventive maintenance routines, and optimize machinery operation. Additionally, this position requires skills in equipment setup, machine adjustments during operation, and the use of machine tools and welding to fabricate or repair parts. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of related maintenance experience or equivalent vocational training
- ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and equipment manuals
- strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- capability to perform basic math calculations using both American and metric systems
- physical ability to frequently stand, walk, reach, and use hands to handle tools and controls
- occasional ability to climb or balance
- ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
- vision capable of close, distance, and color vision with focus adjustment
- willingness to work 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays
- ability to work in a loud environment with exposure to fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and occasional chemicals
Job Qualifications
- 5+ years of related maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of vocational education and hands-on training
- ability to read and interpret technical instructions, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals
- strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- comfortable performing basic math using American and metric measurements
- detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
- positive professional attitude with the ability to work effectively under pressure
Job Duties
- Maintain and repair packaging machinery, equipment, and support structures
- perform equipment changeovers, including tooling installation and machine setup
- adjust machinery during operation to ensure product quality and line efficiency
- diagnose mechanical issues by inspecting equipment and listening for abnormal operation
- partner with operators and maintenance team members to resolve equipment issues
- perform preventive maintenance, including inspection, lubrication, and part replacement
- set up and operate machine tools such as grinders, cutters, drills to fabricate or repair parts
- use welding and cutting equipment to repair or join metal components
- support and train operators on proper equipment setup, operation, and care
