At Smithfield, we believe in fostering an environment of learning, collaboration, and innovation to offer challenging and rewarding career opportunities in various locations and functions. Our commitment extends beyond just producing quality food; we invest in the growth and professional development of our team members, providing a truly meaningful workplace where individuals can grow, contribute, and make a significant impact.
The Maintenance Technician role at Smithfield is crucial in maintaining the continuous and smooth operation of our fast-paced food processing plants. This position demands a highly skilled professional capable of maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a broad spectrum of electrical and mechanical equipment. As a key resource for the team, the technician applies expertise in electrical controls, fluid power, mechanical systems, welding, and fabrication, addressing everything from routine maintenance to complex system challenges. The role requires hands-on skills and the ability to think quickly to ensure that production lines remain operational and efficient.
This role offers a dynamic and high-energy work environment, making every day diverse and engaging. The Maintenance Technician will be expected to respond swiftly to emergency situations, perform preventive maintenance, interpret technical documents such as blueprints and wiring diagrams, and fabricate replacement parts when necessary. The maintenance technician not only completes repairs but also installs essential systems including electrical controls, mechanical equipment, and piping while ensuring all work complies with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
Smithfield offers competitive starting pay ranging from $28.45 to $39.88 per hour, with a shift differential of $1.00 per hour for the third shift. Employees receive comprehensive health insurance, retirement benefits, and access to educational benefits for both full-time and part-time team members who meet eligibility requirements. For those open to relocating, Smithfield provides relocation assistance to help ease the transition. This role presents ample opportunity for career advancement and professional growth within a stable yet innovative company.
Joining Smithfield means becoming part of a team that values diversity and inclusivity, recognizing people for their unique backgrounds and experiences.
