The available position at US Foods is a Warehouse Mechanic role which offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., designed to provide a balanced work-life routine. The starting payrate is $30 per hour with weekly pay and annual pay increases, reflecting the company's dedication to fair compensation. The Warehouse Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of warehouse equipment essential to day and night warehouse activities. Responsibilities include performing repairs and routine maintenance on equipment like Crown electric pallet jacks, highlifts, and forklifts to maintain operational efficiency. Preventative maintenance is conducted regularly to avoid downtime and ensure machinery reliability. This role demands an individual who is diligent in documenting repairs and maintenance logs in accordance with company policies while adhering strictly to safety protocols such as Lock Out/Tag Out procedures. The Warehouse Mechanic also manages the battery-charging station and maintains safety standards within this area.

Beyond mechanical repairs, the position involves light maintenance tasks like replacing light bulbs, painting, minor plumbing fixes, storage rack repairs, drywall patching, and concrete repairs. Managing company tools responsibly, including inventory and security, is part of the role, with occasional authorized purchasing of tools and supplies from vendors. This position requires collaboration with various internal teams such as warehouse staff, operations support, maintenance, and sanitation personnel, as well as coordination with external vendors.

Success in this role depends on prior mechanical experience, ideally including trade school training, and a thorough understanding of warehouse equipment operation and repair. Candidates must be able to read and write legibly, follow instructions, use basic math skills, and work independently. The physical requirements of the job include a mix of sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting of heavy objects, necessitating a good level of fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks safely.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • perform necessary repairs and maintenance to warehouse-related equipment (crown electric pallet jacks, highlifts, forklifts, etc.) to insure that adequate machinery is available for day and night warehouse operations
  • review any equipment reports submitted by warehouse associates, record actions/repairs taken, and maintains a repair log per usf policy
  • perform pm's (preventative maintenance) on equipment, and maintain pm log with proper documentation, per usf policy
  • comply with all usf and government guidelines regarding safety when working on equipment (i.e. lock out/tag out, placarding and required documentation, safe work environment, etc.)
  • maintain and secure the battery-charging area, batteries and other equipment contained therein
  • perform light maintenance duties as assigned (i.e., replacement of light bulbs, painting, storage rack repairs, light plumbing, equipment repairs, basic drywall and concrete repairs, etc.)
  • responsible for company tools and maintenance equipment used in performance of job duties, including inventory maintenance, safe operation, proper storage, and security of tool area
  • if authorized, may purchase tools and other equipment needs from local vendors to perform required duties
