Job Description
Dura-Line, an Orbia business, is a leading global manufacturer specializing in plastic conduit pipes. With a strong commitment to quality, sustainability, and safety, Dura-Line creates innovative pathways that connect people and information across various markets worldwide. The company integrates environmentally friendly and sustainable practices throughout every stage of the manufacturing process, ensuring that both the environment and society benefit from their advanced production methods. Dura-Line's core mission is to Advance Life Around the World, and this vision drives their constant pursuit of operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Dura-Line is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for their Salt Lake City, UT facility, specifically for the night shift. This full-time role offers a competitive starting pay of $28 per hour, with increases depending on experience, along with an attractive $1,500 sign-on bonus. The position follows a unique 2-2-3 scheduling model from 6:45 PM to 7:00 AM, allowing technicians to work only 15 days each month. Employees enjoy a balanced work-life schedule, frequently benefiting from every other weekend off with three-day weekends, making this a highly appealing opportunity for those seeking stability and time to recharge.
As a Maintenance Technician at Dura-Line, you will play a vital role in supporting production departments, with a primary focus on the Extrusion department. Your responsibilities will include repairing and maintaining various equipment critical to the manufacturing process. Skilled in mechanical and electrical systems, technicians assist with breakdowns, equipment rebuilds, and plant shutdowns, ensuring that production continues smoothly and efficiently. The role demands a proactive approach, basic facilities maintenance, and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues effectively.
This position requires familiarity with power transmission equipment such as bearings, gears, and sprockets, along with hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Maintenance Technicians must be comfortable using voltmeters, welders, and hand tools to conduct repairs and upkeep on motors, pumps, electrical circuits, and resin systems. The job also involves maintaining ancillary equipment like tape feeders, spiral units, extruders, vacuum tanks, and other essential machinery. A keen commitment to safety, maintaining a clean work area, and fabricating equipment to support production needs round out the diverse and engaging duties of this role.
To be successful, candidates should have over one year of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience, a thorough understanding of safety codes, and the ability to perform basic math and measurements. Familiarity with MS Excel and basic computer skills are also essential. Physically, the role expects technicians to be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, spending long hours on foot around hot machinery, climbing to various heights, and consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Dura-Line offers an attractive benefits package that takes effect from the first day of hire, including medical, dental, and vision insurance. Additional perks include a generous 401(k) plan with up to 6% company matching plus an automatic 3% contribution, paid time off, sick leave, parental leave, professional development assistance, tuition reimbursement, and various employee recognition programs. The company fosters a team-oriented environment and emphasizes work-life balance, ensuring that employees feel supported both professionally and personally.
Working conditions include a brand-new facility in a manufacturing and warehouse environment that is not climate controlled, with exposure to electrical, chemical, and water hazards. Despite these challenges, Dura-Line prioritizes safety and provides comprehensive training, including forklift operation certification. Overall, this position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with mechanical aptitude and a passion for maintenance to grow within a stable and forward-thinking company committed to advancing life around the world.
