Job Description
Barkan Management Company is a premier property management firm with a well-established presence in the real estate industry. Founded in 1964, the company has grown impressively over the decades, now managing more than 200 residential communities spanning eight states, with regional offices in both Boston and Washington D.C. This extensive reach reflects Barkan's dedication to providing exceptional community association and multi-family management services, offering both market-rate and affordable housing options to a broad spectrum of residents. With a workforce of over 800 skilled professionals, the company prides itself on its commitment to integrity, innovation, and teamwork. Their mission centers on delivering unparalleled service, maintaining high-quality standards, and consistently exceeding client expectations, making Barkan Management Company a leading name in property management.
As the company continues to expand and refine the standards of excellence in property management, they are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join their team on a full-time basis. The Maintenance Technician role is pivotal for ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of residential communities managed by Barkan. This position is ideal for a candidate who demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills. The company values team members who can effectively balance technical expertise with excellent customer service, creating positive experiences for residents and colleagues alike. This role not only demands technical skills but also a dedication to fostering respectful and cooperative relationships with residents, vendors, and team members. Candidates ideally live within 30 miles of the community to enable quick and efficient response times to maintenance needs.
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for a wide range of repair, maintenance, and improvement tasks across the property. These include painting, electrical work, plumbing, flooring, carpentry, HVAC troubleshooting, window and glass repairs, door and lock repairs, and various minor fixes in common areas. The individual will also engage in physical plant preventive maintenance, emergency response, and routine upkeep, ensuring the entire property remains in excellent condition. Additionally, the role involves completing work orders, assisting with grounds maintenance to keep the community clean and inviting, and inspecting buildings and grounds regularly. Special projects assigned by the Superintendent or Property Manager may also be part of the duties, alongside after-hours emergency on-call services approximately every other week.
This position requires a hands-on approach, the ability to work independently while fostering teamwork, and an organized, detail-oriented mindset. The candidate must be comfortable working in various weather conditions and physically capable of performing duties such as lifting weights up to 50 pounds and using ladders safely. Familiarity with general maintenance tools and safety procedures is essential. The comprehensive role offers opportunities for growth in a supportive environment that values integrity and cooperation. Barkan Management Company also provides a competitive compensation package, commensurate with experience, underscoring their commitment to employee well-being and satisfaction.
