Job Description
Equity Residential is a leading real estate investment trust focused on the acquisition, development, and management of rental apartment properties in urban and high-density suburban markets across the United States. Dedicated to creating thriving communities, Equity Residential operates a portfolio that encompasses a wide range of residential properties, positioning itself as a premier provider of high-quality, well-maintained rental homes. The company embraces core values such as diversity, sustainability, and total wellbeing, fostering a culture of authenticity, collaboration, and professional growth among its employees. Equity Residential is committed to delivering exceptional living experiences, and this commitment is reflected in its rigorous hiring standards and its investment in talents who share a passion for outstanding service and community stewardship.
Equity Residential is hosting a hiring event at Vista 99 Apartments in San Jose, California, providing a valuable opportunity for prospective candidates to join their team. This event offers positions across multiple locations including San Mateo, Union City, South San Francisco, Redwood City, Emeryville, and San Francisco. The roles available range from Multisite Maintenance Technician to Maintenance Manager and Floating Regional Plumbing Technician, providing a variety of career paths within the property maintenance and management field. The hiring event is scheduled for Thursday, June 11th, 2026, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, at 99 Vista Montana, San Jose, CA 95134.
The available roles focus on maintaining high standards of apartment living through prompt, attentive service and effective property upkeep. The Multisite Maintenance Technician plays a critical role supported by the General Service Director or Service Manager to maintain two or more apartment communities. Responsibilities include responding to resident service requests, completing make-ready work, and communal area maintenance. The Senior Maintenance Technician carries similar duties but also supports managerial activities such as managing inventory and assuming responsibility in the absence of the Service Manager.
Maintenance Managers partner closely with Community and Property Managers to build and lead high-performing teams, oversee maintenance projects, and analyze financial performance relating to maintenance activities. The Floating Regional Plumbing Technician is a specialized role focusing on plumbing systems maintenance across multiple properties and requires the ability to travel to various sites with a company-provided vehicle.
Starting pay for these positions varies based on job role, skills, experience, and qualifications, with hourly rates ranging from $27.71 to $48.95. Equity Residential values overtime pay and offers performance incentives, fostering an environment that rewards dedication and excellence. The company seeks candidates with hands-on general maintenance experience, certifications such as EPA Section 608 where applicable, effective communication skills, and a commitment to work a flexible schedule with possible emergency response duties.
Equity Residential’s commitment extends beyond just offering jobs; it invests in its employees’ total wellbeing delivering benefits in physical, social, financial, community, and career wellbeing dimensions. Benefits include competitive compensation, extensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision, paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, parental support, 401(k) retirement savings plans, rent discounts, and leadership development opportunities. This comprehensive benefits package, combined with a culture of respect and growth, makes Equity Residential an employer of choice in the real estate property maintenance sector.
Joining Equity Residential means becoming part of a respected organization that champions quality service and total employee wellbeing while offering paths for career advancement in a thriving and supportive working environment. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply early before the hiring event to facilitate quicker interview scheduling and enhance their chances of securing a preferred role. Equity Residential’s recruitment emphasizes a proactive approach, ensuring prospective employees can connect directly with recruiting teams and integrate swiftly into the company’s dynamic workforce.
