SP+ is currently seeking a Facility Maintenance Worker to join their dynamic team in Santa Monica, CA. This role involves a combination of maintenance duties and direct customer service, essential to maintaining the operational excellence and safety of parking facilities. The position is designed for individuals who can work with minimal supervision and have a keen eye for detail. Responsibilities include performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, painting, and minor repairs to ensure all areas of the facility are clean, safe, and operational. The role requires daily inspections of the garage to identify and rectify any maintenance issues promptly. The candidate will also be responsible for snow removal and upkeep of outdoor areas using tools like lawnmowers and weed eaters, depending on the location. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid state-issued driver’s license with current address and acceptable driving record
- Availability to work varying shifts including nights and weekends, if required
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to write and interpret written information
- Positive attitude and customer service orientation
- Ability to adapt to changes and handle unexpected events
- Sound judgment and professionalism under pressure
- Ability to read, write and interpret English
- Physical capability to perform manual tasks including lifting 50 pounds
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions
- Ability to use hands and fingers and communicate with customers and employees
- Ability to stand, walk for long periods, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist and bend frequently
- Ability to move quickly when needed
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and housekeeping tasks
- Experience with equipment operation like sweepers and lawn equipment preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Good customer service skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to adapt to work environment changes and weather conditions
- Valid state-issued driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Job Duties
- Perform all maintenance and cleaning tasks noted in the checklists and as directed by the facility manager/supervisor to ensure all dirt, dust, litter and debris are removed from all areas of the facility using brooms, mops, brushes and other hand tools
- Walk garage daily to note and correct any maintenance problems
- Sweep and pick up around entrances and exits to the garage and stairwells, clean surface area rails on all levels, booth, office and restrooms
- Empty all trashcans in the garage, booth and office
- Paint surfaces such as poles, signs, doors, walls, curbs, islands, gates as directed
- Replace burned out bulbs
- Apply oil absorbent to oil spills
- Submit requests for repairs or maintenance
- Check safety items like gate arms to ensure clearance bars are secure
- Check ticket spitters and gates daily for proper operation, ticket supply, time accuracy and appearance
- Provide ticket and gate counter records to the manager
- Keep inventory of janitorial supplies
- Maintain garage/lot sweep sheet
- Operate automatic sweepers, scrubbers, and outdoor equipment such as weed eaters and lawnmowers
- Shovel, plow or blow snow from entrances or exits using appropriate equipment
- Report violations, safety hazards or unusual occurrences to the facility manager
- Practice customer service behaviors to ensure successful customer interactions
- Assist customers within the facility or as directed
- Resolve customer complaints independently or with supervisor aid
- Be familiar with all operational aspects including cashier and attendant duties
- Maintain a neat and clean appearance and complete uniform compliance
- Perform other duties as assigned
