The Facility Maintenance and Customer Service role at SP Plus is crucial for maintaining the high standards of their parking facilities while delivering exceptional customer service. This position involves a range of responsibilities from facility upkeep to direct customer interaction. Individuals in this role perform essential maintenance duties such as cleaning, painting, equipment servicing, and safety inspections to ensure the parking environments are clean, secure, and welcoming.
Employees will walk through the garage daily to identify and resolve maintenance issues, carry out routine cleaning including sweeping, trash removal, and maintaining restrooms, and utilize tools like brooms, mops, and brushes to keep facilities spotless. The role also includes some technical tasks such as replacing light bulbs, applying oil absorbents to spills, and operating equipment like sweepers and lawn care tools. Furthermore, snow removal duties using shovels or snow blowers might be required depending on the location.
Customer service is a critical aspect of this role. The employee is expected to assist customers promptly and efficiently, handle complaints independently or with supervisory support, and maintain a friendly, professional demeanor at all times. Knowledge of the operation’s key safety and operational mechanisms, including gate arms and ticket machines, is necessary to ensure smooth day-to-day functionality.

Job Duties
- perform all maintenance and cleaning tasks as directed by facility manager
- walk garage daily to identify and correct maintenance problems
- sweep and clean entrances, exits, stairwells, rails, booth, office, and restrooms
- empty trashcans throughout facility
- paint facility surfaces such as poles, signs, doors, and walls
- replace burned out bulbs and apply oil absorbent to spills
- submit repair and maintenance requests
- inspect safety items including gate arms and ticket machines
- operate equipment like sweepers, lawnmowers, and snow removal tools
- assist customers and resolve complaints
- maintain janitorial supplies inventory
- keep garage and lot sweep sheet
- cover cashier or attendant duties as needed
- maintain proper uniform and professional appearance
