Job Description

Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream, a distinguished name in the frozen dessert industry, is embarking on an exciting phase of accelerated growth under the umbrella of Froneri, a prominent global pure-play ice cream leader. With a rich heritage spanning nearly a century in the U.S. market, Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream boasts a powerful portfolio of beloved brands including Häagen-Dazs, Drumstick, Dreyer's, and Edy's. This robust brand lineup, combined with the expertise of European-based ice cream professionals, positions the company to advance towards its ambitious goal of becoming the number one ice cream brand.

Headquartered in Walnut Creek, part of the vibrant Bay Area known for innovative food trends, Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream is actively investing in capital expansions to grow its operations and supply chain infrastructure. The company is undergoing transformational changes aimed at fostering agility, accelerating growth, and elevating product quality. Dreyer's values its close-knit team of ambitious innovators who are deeply involved in the business and empowered to make swift, impactful decisions inspired by a culture of ownership and entrepreneurial spirit.

The role of Factory Equipment Maintenance Technician is critical to this transformative journey. This hands-on position is focused on ensuring the effective and consistent operation of factory equipment to meet production and cost objectives. The technician will play a proactive role on the factory floor, rather than passively waiting for instructions, maintaining an active presence to ensure machines run smoothly with minimal waste and downtime. Responsibilities include the upkeep of factory processes, machinery, and systems, with a stringent emphasis on meeting quality and food safety standards. The technician is expected to develop a profound understanding of the factory’s operations, maintenance needs, and production schedules to preemptively address potential issues.

This position demands a commitment to safety, tidiness, and discipline within the workplace, encouraging a “clean as you go” mentality and responsible management of spare parts and tools. Maintenance tasks will be data-driven and focused on replacing only necessary parts while adhering strictly to food safety policies. The role is also responsible for promoting a culture of continuous improvement, swiftly addressing breakdowns, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Ideal candidates will exhibit key behaviors aligned with Dreyer’s core values: taking ownership by managing responsibilities thoroughly, doing what is right through transparency and accountability, seeking to improve via innovation and open feedback, and embracing collaboration by valuing diverse perspectives and treating colleagues with respect. The role demands excellent interpersonal skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that involves working in cold, humid, and noisy conditions with exposure to allergens.

Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream offers a rewarding career path where employees can unleash their potential and contribute to the success of a beloved brand. Compensation for this role ranges around $31.13 per hour, reflecting a competitive approach based on skills, experience, and business needs. The company is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, inviting applications from all qualified individuals regardless of any protected characteristic.

Joining Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream means becoming part of a dynamic, forward-thinking company dedicated to delivering the best ice cream experiences while fostering an engaging and supportive work environment. This is more than a job; it is an opportunity to be part of a passionate team driving innovation and growth in one of America’s favorite food segments.
