Job Description

Frito-Lay, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, is a leading manufacturer in the snack food industry known for its commitment to innovation, quality, and employee welfare. The company operates large manufacturing facilities that produce a variety of favorite snack foods, delivering them to consumers worldwide. Frito-Lay emphasizes creating a supportive work environment that values safety, teamwork, and professional growth. As part of PepsiCo, Frito-Lay offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits, positioning itself as a desirable employer within the manufacturing sector.

We are currently seeking a full-time experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team within the Frito-Lay manufacturing facilities. This role is critical to ensuring continuous production and operational excellence, given the wide range of equipment that requires daily upkeep and troubleshooting. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for repairing and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems, control valves, centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, and AC/DC electrical systems. The ideal candidate must have an extensive understanding of industrial maintenance, multi-craft repair skills, and familiarity with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC).

In this role, the Maintenance Mechanic will be hands-on in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, using a variety of diagnostic tools such as Volt-Ohm meters, amp meters, and oscilloscopes. Beyond repairs, the candidate will perform fabrications using lathes, mills, arc welders, and Heliarc welders to ensure production equipment operates at maximum efficiency and reliability. A strong emphasis on preventative maintenance techniques and work order tracking will be key to the candidate's success in this role.

The job environment is fast-paced and dynamic, requiring flexibility and the ability to work under pressure to quickly restore equipment functionality to minimize downtime. Candidates must be comfortable working in large manufacturing settings where noise levels can be high, and environmental conditions fluctuating due to seasonal changes. The role demands physical stamina, as it involves standing, walking, lifting weights between 15 to 50 pounds, and performing physical tasks such as climbing and bending.

Safety is a core value at Frito-Lay. The ideal Maintenance Mechanic holds a strong safety focus, adhering to all company policies and fostering a culture of safety among team members. The role often involves working unsupervised on complex repairs, so candidates must demonstrate self-motivation, adaptability, and strong problem-solving skills. Interaction with other team members requires excellent customer service skills to create a collaborative and respectful workplace.

Candidates interested in this position should have at least two years of experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and hold relevant certifications or training. A hands-on electrical skills test will be required as part of the interview process to assess proficiency. Career advancement opportunities exist within PepsiCo for motivated individuals who demonstrate technical expertise and leadership potential.

By joining Frito-Lay as a Maintenance Mechanic, you will take on a challenging yet rewarding role, contributing directly to product quality and operational excellence while benefiting from industry-leading pay and benefits including health insurance, dental and vision care, retirement savings plans like 401(k) with company match, paid vacation, and more. We foster diversity and inclusion in our hiring process, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds and ensuring equal employment opportunity. If you are ready to be part of a dedicated team with a strong safety culture and a commitment to innovation, this role provides a fantastic opportunity to leverage your technical skills and advance your career in manufacturing maintenance.
