Job Description

Novolex is a renowned leader in the manufacturing of food, beverage, and specialty packaging, serving diverse sectors including foodservice, restaurant delivery and carryout, food processing, grocery and retail, as well as industrial markets. With expertise that spans a wide variety of substrates such as resin, paper, molded fiber, and aluminum, Novolex provides customers with a broad array of solutions that range from stock products to custom designs. Their extensive portfolio includes 120 product categories, 250 brands, and over 39,000 SKUs, underscoring their significant capacity and versatility within the packaging industry.

The company emphasizes sustainability through a robust vision grounded on three core pillars: its products, its operational processes, and its people. This foundational commitment to sustainability is pivotal to Novolex's strategy for future growth and development. The company undertakes numerous ongoing initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental impact and promoting eco-friendly product development and operations.

Located in Vancouver, WA, Novolex is currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join their manufacturing team, working predominantly during night shifts with an essential training period on day shifts. This role is critical to ensuring continuous, efficient operation of the production machinery that supports Novolex's extensive manufacturing footprint. The position offers a competitive starting hourly pay rate between $37.70 and $40.30, with an additional $1.00 per hour shift differential applicable to hours worked overnight between 3:00 pm and 6:59 am. The night shift operates from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am Sunday through Wednesday and Saturday through Tuesday, with a two-month training phase on the day shift (7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday).

As a hands-on Maintenance Mechanic, the successful candidate will proactively maintain machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive and predictive maintenance practices. The role demands an individual who is capable of carrying out repairs on production machinery by following detailed technical instructions, including diagrams, manuals, and engineering specifications. The position requires collaborating closely with production teams to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and contributing to plant improvements.

This role is an excellent opportunity for a maintenance professional with practical experience in equipment maintenance and a technical aptitude for mechanical and electrical systems. The candidate must be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, capable of critical decision-making, and flexible with their working hours. Experience in an industrial manufacturing setting is particularly advantageous, given the complexity and scale of Novolex's operations. Overall, this position integrates rigorous technical skills with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient production environment within a market-leading company dedicated to sustainability and employee well-being.
