The Maintenance Manager position at Howmet Aerospace is a key leadership role based at the Aerofit location in Fullerton, CA. This role entails overseeing organizational compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations, ensuring the company maintains its high standards of operational safety and environmental stewardship. The Maintenance Manager will lead maintenance processes that directly affect profitability, cost management, quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction, thus influencing the overall success of the operation. This position involves managing the maintenance department, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure maintenance projects are completed efficiently, and engaging in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize maintenance procedures and practices.

The Maintenance Manager will also be responsible for developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs, assisting with new equipment installation standards, and effectively planning and scheduling maintenance activities to ensure smooth operational flow. Managing the maintenance budget in partnership with site leaders, coordinating external contract services, overseeing maintenance inventory, and purchasing necessary materials are also critical aspects of the role. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in business or engineering or 8+ years of machinery maintenance experience within manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years experience as maintenance lead or supervisor
  • 5+ years machinery maintenance experience with CNC mills and lathes, pneumatics, hydraulic, chemical processes, electrical, mechanical systems
  • legally authorized to work in the United States
  • proficiency in English verbal and written to understand and follow safety procedures, company policies, work instructions, and manuals

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in business or engineering
  • 3+ years of experience as a maintenance lead or supervisor
  • 5+ years of machinery maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment involving CNC mills and lathes, pneumatics, hydraulic, chemical processes, electrical, mechanical systems
  • lean or continuous improvement certifications preferred
  • ability to navigate and communicate in a highly matrixed organization
  • ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and manage multiple projects
  • hands-on practical problem-solving skills
  • strong analytical skills including data mining, analysis, trending, and report writing

Job Duties

  • Manage maintenance department
  • collaborate cross-functionally to ensure completion of maintenance projects
  • engage with continuous improvement initiatives in the maintenance department
  • collaborate, manage, or implement safety procedures and provide training in safety best practices
  • oversee maintenance budget in partnership with site leaders and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • develop tools and techniques to analyze and develop cost-effective preventive maintenance procedures
  • assist in developing standards-based installation procedures for new equipment
  • participate in daily meetings and weekly planning and scheduling meetings
  • coordinate and review external contract services as needed to complete projects and repairs
  • manage maintenance inventory stock and implement purchase of materials and spare parts
  • apply strong problem-solving skills to aid operation reliability
  • ensure compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations
  • carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring recommendations, training, planning, assigning and directing work, rewarding and disciplining employees, resolving complaints
  • support additional tasks as assigned
