The Maintenance Manager role at HelloFresh involves overseeing the maintenance and reliability of equipment and facilities across multiple sites. This position is vital to ensuring operational continuity and safety across manufacturing and distribution centers. The Maintenance Manager will lead teams responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance, including HVAC, refrigeration, electrical systems, and manufacturing automation equipment. The role requires hands-on leadership with an emphasis on motivating, coaching, and engaging a diverse team of associate managers and technicians. Strong project management skills are essential, as is the ability to manage outside vendors and facilitate both planned and emergency repairs. Additional responsibilities include maintaining compliance with safety regulations like OSHA, ensuring high upkeep standards for facilities and equipment, and supporting a safety-first culture aligned with HelloFresh's quality and food safety priorities.

This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or operations within food, beverage, perishables, or distribution industries. Candidates should have a high level of integrity, exhibit strong communication abilities across all organizational levels, and possess technical knowledge spanning mechanical, electrical, automation, and refrigeration systems. The Maintenance Manager will often work in cold environments, with parts of the facility maintained at 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and must be adaptable to a fast-paced, evolving workplace reminiscent of a startup atmosphere. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and nights is essential.

Compensation for this role in Arizona ranges from $77,175 to $89,250 USD annually, including a competitive hourly rate, 401K company match with immediate vesting, team bonus opportunities, generous paid time off, and a flexible attendance policy. Job Requirements

  • Minimum five years experience managing facilities maintenance/operations and reliability within the food/beverage/perishables/distribution industry
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • high school diploma or GED required
  • High level of integrity and ethics with excellent follow-through
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and schematics
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, automation and refrigeration systems
  • Comfortable working in cold environments with some areas of facility at 40F
  • Excitement for working in a start-up environment with a high level of ambiguity and change
  • Effective communicator for employees, direct reports, cross-functional teams, and senior leadership
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and/or nights

Job Duties

  • Oversee M&RE-related processes including maintenance of automation and manufacturing equipment, electrical, refrigeration, PIT equipment (forklifts), building, grounds, and overall upkeep of multiple buildings
  • Motivate, engage, coach, and inspire a team of associate managers and technicians, creating a positive team dynamic that encourages all employees to provide feedback and drive change from within
  • Provide project management support
  • Manage outside vendors and facilitate planned and unplanned repairs
  • Ensure that maintenance regulations are followed
  • Maintain a current list of contractors to ensure that all emergency repairs are handled
  • Collaborate with other departments within the distribution center to identify problems and brainstorm improvement ideas
  • Promote food safety, quality, and a safety-first culture
  • Backfill Associate Maintenance Manager role when needed (call off, PTO requests)
