The position of Maintenance Manager, based in Chula Vista, California, supports the MTS Contract and plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily activities of maintenance personnel, including mechanics, bus washers, utility workers, and administrative staff. Job Requirements
- Be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future if based in the U.S.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Must be subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable
- Ability to work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions
- Ability to sit for extended periods up to 6 to 8 hours per day
- Ability to walk long distances on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
- Ability to push and pull objects up to 50 pounds
- Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Ability to bend, kneel, or crouch occasionally
- Ability to tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes and noise
- Must maintain a drug-free workplace
- Must comply with all federal and state disability laws and work accommodation policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred
- 7 years plus experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of heavy-duty automotive and transit equipment
- 3 years plus of supervisory experience
- Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy-duty transportation vehicles
- Familiarity with laws and regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable
Job Duties
- Hire, train and schedule Maintenance Technicians
- Approve priority of maintenance and repairs based on availability of materials and parts and requirements of scheduled operations
- Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside vendors
- Ensure company and client equipment is maintained and operating efficiently
- Manage inventory
- Implement safety policies and procedures for the department per corporate requirements
- Participate in the development and administration of the operational budget
- Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods
- Other duties as required
- Travel requirement outside of immediate area 10 percent
