Job Requirements
- Advanced vocational training in building maintenance or construction
- Two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction or equivalent education and experience
- Professional certification and license required by law
- Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
- Mathematical skills including basic math, budgeting, and profit/loss concepts
- Problem solving and organizational skills
- Ability to travel including some overnight travel
- Valid driver’s license
- Frequently standing, bending, climbing, and kneeling
- Frequently handling objects and equipment
- Ability to use commercial chemicals
- Ability to carry, lift, or pull up to 75 pounds
- Willingness to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Advanced vocational training in building maintenance or construction
- Two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction or equivalent education and experience
- Professional certification and license required by law
- Background in extended stay industry or apartment building maintenance management preferred
- Specialized knowledge in plumbing, carpentry, electricity, and equipment mechanics
- Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
- Fluent English speaking, reading, and writing skills
- Basic mathematical skills including budgeting and profit/loss concepts
- Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities
- Experience with Microsoft Office preferred
- Ability to travel including some overnight travel
- Valid driver’s license
Job Duties
- Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients
- Manage according to Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instill a passion for customer service in all associates
- Create processes and procedures to ensure the hotel is properly maintained and clean
- Ensure all staff is properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their job functions
- Partner with the General Manager to recruit, train, develop, and manage the Maintenance staff
- Perform maintenance and repair work on the interior and exterior of buildings, hotel rooms, and equipment including plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, HVAC, and refrigeration
- Perform preventive maintenance as outlined in the PM Works program
- Monitor and secure inventory, follow established ordering procedures to replenish supplies, and minimize waste
- Take responsibility for and inform management of hazardous situations, emergencies, or security threats
- Responsible for testing, maintenance and repair of all hotel life safety systems
- Provide input for the annual department operating budget
- Promote teamwork and quality service through communication and coordination with other departments
- Ensure the proper process is in place to manage human resources and benefits programs within the Maintenance department
- Enforce hotel standards, policies, and procedures within the maintenance department
- Manage and report on the proper use, maintenance, and location of supplies and equipment
- Manage purchasing of supplies, leveraging platforms to optimize spending
- Utilize PM Works for service recovery to ensure guest satisfaction
- Promote safety by proper use of protective equipment
- Act as Manager on duty as required
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws regarding health and safety services
- Perform other duties as assigned
