With operations in multiple locations including Houston, Texas, Nucor supports a dynamic and inclusive workplace where employees have access to unmatched career opportunities, stability, and professional growth. The company values a vibrant culture built on trust, safety, and efficiency, which enriches both its workforce and the communities it serves.
Texas Port Recycling LLC, a division within Nucor, focuses on recycling operations in Houston, TX, and other locations across Texas. This division plays a critical role in Nucor's sustainable efforts by managing efficient recycling processes that contribute to the steel production cycle. The work environment is both indoor and outdoor, involving the physical handling of materials and the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment. The role offered by Nucor at Texas Port Recycling LLC is designed for candidates who prioritize safety and are equipped to uphold high standards in safety practices and operations.
The position is a second-shift opportunity requiring candidates to work from 6 PM to 6 AM, Monday through Friday, with potential weekend shifts as needed. Employees in this role are expected to be reliable and adaptable, working under varying conditions and cooperating closely with team members to maintain operational efficiency. The role involves operating heavy machinery such as front-end loaders, excavators, forklifts, skid steers, and scrap handlers within an industrial and outdoor work environment.
Candidates will be tasked with maintaining safety standards rigorously, performing general labor duties, and conducting preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment. This includes duties like removing metals and debris from conveyors, changing shredder components (liners, grates, hammers), and assisting with other operational tasks as directed by supervisors or facility management. Training is provided on the job to equip workers with the necessary skills for equipment operation and maintenance.
The company emphasizes a safe and supportive work atmosphere with benefits that include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, disability coverage, and robust retirement plans like 401K and Roth accounts. Profit sharing, pay-for-performance bonuses, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement, stock programs, and scholarships are also offered to support professional and personal growth.
