Job Description

Marriott International is a globally renowned hospitality company committed to providing exceptional experiences across its diverse portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts, including the esteemed St. Regis Hotels & Resorts. St. Regis is synonymous with timeless glamour and vanguard spirit, offering bespoke and anticipatory service through a team of gracious hosts who balance classic sophistication with modern sensibility. With over 50 luxury properties worldwide, St. Regis stands as a benchmark for excellence in luxury hospitality, where every guest is treated to impeccable service and personalized care, including the iconic Butler Service.

The opportunity presented is for a full-time, non-management Engineering Maintenance Technician at the St. Regis property located at 9703 Collins Avenue, Bal Harbour, Florida. This role is central to maintaining the highest standards of guest satisfaction through responsive, skilled maintenance and repair services that ensure the property operates smoothly and safely. The technician will work on-site and not remotely, engaging directly with guests and team members to address and resolve maintenance requests efficiently.

In this position, the Engineering Maintenance Technician is expected to respond to guest repair requests promptly and effectively, communicating directly with guests to resolve issues independently. Preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, is a key responsibility to extend equipment life and reduce downtime. The technician must perform visual inspections of tools, equipment, and machines to diagnose problems early and carry necessary tools and communication devices, such as radios, to facilitate efficient workflows.

An essential aspect of the role includes identifying, locating, and operating all shut-off valves for equipment and maintaining maintenance inventory by requisitioning parts and supplies as needed. The technician must ensure seamless communication across shifts, using company-approved programs and standards, to provide continuity and comprehensive coverage.

Candidates must demonstrate advanced skills in reading standard blueprints and electrical schematics related to plumbing and HVAC systems. They should possess strong engineering operational capabilities and a broad mechanical aptitude. Expertise is required in at least three technical categories such as air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical systems, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management. Proficiency in the safe and effective use of hand and power tools is crucial for performing complex repairs independently while adhering to all safety standards, local and national codes.

The role involves troubleshooting and repairing a variety of equipment including pumps, motors, plumbing fixtures, electrical devices, air conditioning units, HVAC equipment, kitchen utilities, and pool heaters. Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout safety systems is vital for conducting maintenance work safely. Advanced knowledge of engineering computer programs related to preventive maintenance and energy management is also required.

Additionally, the technician will mentor and train other engineers as necessary and fulfill Engineer on Duty responsibilities such as performing system readings and rounds. The expectation is to uphold all company safety and security policies, report hazards and incidents, complete required training, and maintain professional appearance and confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential to welcome guests warmly, address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and foster a positive work environment.

Physical demands include moving, lifting, pushing, and pulling objects up to 50 pounds independently, with assistance for heavier tasks, as well as navigating stairs, ramps, and ladders. Bending, twisting, stooping, and reaching are routine components of the job, along with the ability to use computers to access work-related information.

Joining the St. Regis team offers a unique chance to work with a world-class brand known for luxury and service excellence while being part of Marriott International's supportive and inclusive culture. This position invites candidates who are passionate about engineering maintenance in a dynamic, high-end hospitality environment where they can develop their skills and contribute to unforgettable guest experiences.
