The Maintenance Engineer role at Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center is a vital position within the Engineering Department, reporting directly to the Chief Engineer. This hourly, non-exempt position comes with varied shift options including first shift (7am-3:30pm), second shift (3pm-11:30pm), and third shift (11pm-7:30am) to meet operational demands. The Maintenance Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining both guest areas and back-of-house facilities to Marriott's high standards by performing preventative maintenance, routine repairs, and emergency fixes as necessary. Responsibilities encompass everything from repairing plumbing fixtures, televisions, and HVAC systems, to maintaining flooring, furniture, and the exterior grounds. The job requires hands-on use of both power and hand tools, knowledge of preventative maintenance programs, and strict adherence to safety protocols.

This position is central to ensuring the hotel's infrastructure is in optimal condition, contributing to a flawless guest experience and efficient hotel operations. The successful candidate is expected to possess competence in handling diverse equipment repairs and upkeep, as well as the physical ability to lift heavy loads and perform tasks that require bending, stooping, climbing, and stretching. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Maintains rooms in optimal operating condition by performing repairs as needed
  • understands the Room Preventative Maintenance Program (R.P.M.)
  • prepares preventative maintenance cart for use each day
  • repairs televisions, phones, clock radios, etc.
  • replaces or repairs damaged bathroom fixtures and executes general plumbing as needed
  • maintains overall appearance of the room by replacing broken mirrors, hanging fixtures, and doing touch-up painting
  • repairs and maintains room’s heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems
  • uses both power and hand tools regularly in a safe, efficient manner
  • performs preventative maintenance throughout other areas of the hotel including front and heart of the house, interior and exterior
  • maintains condition of hotel lobbies and restaurants
  • repairs furniture and decorations as necessary
  • repairs carpet, marble and tile
  • repairs and maintains kitchen and laundry/housekeeping equipment
  • repairs/replaces windows and mirrors
  • maintains exterior of building and grounds as necessary
  • attends schools or seminars to remain current on proper techniques
  • lifts (75lbs) and moves equipment manually or with dolly
  • maintains operating equipment in working condition by performing routine checks and repairs
  • assists in cleanliness of individual work area
  • adheres to hotel policies and procedures
  • attends work on time as scheduled
  • follows hotel grooming and dress standards
  • minimizes safety hazards by following all safety rules and procedures
  • keeps immediate supervisor informed of problems requiring corrective action
  • conducts or attends meetings as required
  • prepares reports such as housekeeping board for management decision making
  • performs duties professionally, timely, and efficiently
  • performs all other duties as required for smooth hotel operation
