Job Description

The hiring establishment is a well-regarded hotel committed to providing exceptional service and a safe, welcoming environment for guests. This establishment prides itself on maintaining high standards in all aspects of hotel operations, including guest rooms, public areas, meeting rooms, restaurants, and lounges. The hotel values professionalism, safety, and efficiency, and is known for its commitment to upholding its core values and mission statement. It focuses on delivering outstanding guest experiences by ensuring the property is always well-maintained and functioning at its best. The maintenance department plays a crucial role in the daily operations and overall guest satisfaction by keeping the environment safe, clean, and fully operational.

The role offered is for a Maintenance Technician responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, meeting rooms, and other hotel facilities. This position encompasses a variety of tasks including preventive maintenance, responding promptly to maintenance requests from both staff and guests, and performing repairs within the scope of electrical work, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general maintenance. The Maintenance Technician operates under the direction of the Chief Engineer or hotel management, following established safety policies and departmental procedures to ensure a safe and efficient workspace. The job demands an individual who is proactive in addressing issues before they escalate, diligent in maintaining a clean and safe environment, and cooperative with other staff members to ensure seamless operations.

The Maintenance Technician will participate actively in preventative maintenance programs aimed to minimize disruptions to hotel operations and maximize equipment lifespan. Additionally, this role requires keen observation and communication skills to report emergency or unusual situations immediately and to follow up on any necessary major repairs with the Director of Engineering. This position is vital in protecting the property and ensuring guests have a positive experience unmarred by maintenance concerns. It also involves understanding and adhering to all company core values and mission statements, as well as promoting an attitude of cooperation and helpfulness at all times.

The role may occasionally require long hours and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as lifting, pushing, or moving heavy objects, sometimes up to 100 pounds. The position also requires mental resilience to maintain composure under pressure and the ability to convey information clearly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

This role is ideal for someone with a high school diploma or equivalent, preferably with prior experience in a hotel or a related field, and possibly holding a trade license in an associated field. The successful candidate will bring a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and a passion for hospitality maintenance to enhance the overall guest experience.
