The Salem, Oregon facility, where this position is based, produces maraschino cherries and other cherry products in multiple styles, colors, and flavors. This facility employs between 70-100 team members who work together to maintain high standards in food production. The Maintenance Forklift Mechanic 2 role at PCP's Salem production facility is a full-time position that offers a competitive pay rate of $33.85 per hour, with a 40-hour workweek that may include some weekends and overtime as needed. This position is part of a seniority-based Collective Bargaining Unit (CBA), requiring flexibility to work various shifts. Forklift mechanics at PCP play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of production lines by maintaining and repairing forklifts and related equipment to minimize downtime and uphold safety standards.

Job responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, maintaining both internal combustion and electric forklifts including battery systems and chargers, and responding promptly to equipment breakdowns. Accurate documentation through maintenance records and work orders is essential, as is ensuring all repairs comply with safety regulations and company standards. Communication with supervisors and operations staff about equipment status and repair timelines is also a key part of this role. Maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment is prioritized alongside adhering strictly to food safety protocols. Because PCP operates as a food processing facility, employees are required to uphold the safety and quality of the facilities and production at all times, reporting any food safety concerns immediately.
