As a part of CBRE, our business model emphasizes self-performing hard services while partnering with premier soft service providers, thereby ensuring that every client receives a tailored and comprehensive facility management experience. GWS Local empowers its teams with significant downstream accountability, promoting agile, efficient, and responsive service delivery tailored to meet the unique needs of commercial properties. Our platform extends beyond traditional facility and project management to include innovative services such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), Security Consulting, Workplace Strategy, and Workplace Experience, making us a leader in integrated facility management solutions.

The role of a CBRE Maintenance Assistant/Day Porter is pivotal in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness, orderliness, and upkeep across our managed commercial properties in Columbus. This role falls under the Workplace Experience function, focusing on delivering world-class customer service to both clients and visitors. As a Maintenance Assistant/Day Porter, your day-to-day responsibilities will involve a variety of maintenance and custodial tasks designed to keep the facility functional, clean, and welcoming. You will engage in routine housekeeping duties, perform light repairs such as painting and minor drywall fixes, and assist with seasonal projects that help maintain and enhance our facilities. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying and addressing minor repair needs through regular walkthroughs of the premises.

In addition to these maintenance-related duties, the role calls for assisting with moving and organizing materials, managing inventory in storage areas, and responding quickly to lockout situations by handling key replacements. The Maintenance Assistant/Day Porter supports the broader Facilities team by engaging in diverse physical tasks and providing assistance during office relocations and special projects. This role demands strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship, as well as a friendly and professional demeanor to positively interact with building occupants and team members.

Candidates for this role should possess fundamental maintenance skills including basic painting and drywall repair, complemented by the physical ability to perform the duties which include lifting up to 50 pounds and tasks requiring stooping, climbing stairs, and other physical activities. Previous experience in maintenance, custodial work, or facilities support is favorable, offering a solid foundation for success in this multifaceted position. The role also requires competence in standard office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and a natural inclination towards organization and problem-solving.

CBRE, the parent company, is a globally renowned leader in commercial real estate services and investment. Joining CBRE means becoming part of a dynamic and inclusive culture that values respect, integrity, service, and excellence. We provide opportunities for personal and professional growth, supporting each employee’s potential with a diverse and collaborative work environment. The position offers a salary range of $28,000 to $37,440 annually, reflecting hourly wages between $13.50 and $18.00, based on skills, qualifications, and experience. Equal employment opportunity is a core value at CBRE, embracing diversity in all forms and ensuring accommodations for candidates with disabilities during the hiring process.
