Job Description
Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) Local is a distinguished division within CBRE, a global leader in commercial real estate services and investment. GWS Local specializes in delivering hard services-led, tailored facility management solutions that prioritize both efficiency and high-quality service delivery. Unlike traditional facility management companies, GWS Local self-performs its hard services — such as maintenance and repairs — while collaborating with top-tier soft service providers to offer bespoke project management and facility solutions. This hybrid approach ensures clients receive customized, high-caliber facility management that keeps their commercial spaces running smoothly and effectively. The company’s ethos centers around empowering its team members with significant downstream accountability. This empowerment fosters an agile and responsive service environment where team members take ownership of their duties, resulting in seamless and effective outcomes for clients. Beyond its core capabilities in facility and project management, GWS Local extends its offerings to include specialized services such as Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) consulting, security consulting, workplace strategy, and overall workplace experience solutions. These additional service lines enable the company to deliver an integrated, one-stop solution for workplace management needs, ensuring clients can maximize both operational performance and employee satisfaction within their properties.
The role of Maintenance Assistant/Day Porter at CBRE is integral to the ongoing upkeep and presentation of commercial properties managed by GWS Local. This position is part of the Workplace Experience function, which focuses on delivering world-class customer service to clients and visitors. As a Maintenance Assistant/Day Porter, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing basic maintenance tasks that include housekeeping, minor repairs, and custodial duties to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming environments inside and outside the building.
Based in Columbus, this role supports everyday facilities operations through tasks such as cleaning, organizing storage areas, performing light painting and drywall repairs, upkeep of outdoor furnishings, and assisting with office relocations. In addition, the Maintenance Assistant/Day Porter will conduct regular walkthroughs to identify repair needs, support the facilities team in special projects, and communicate issues or supply needs to the Chief Engineer. The position requires a hands-on approach, physical stamina, and attention to detail to ensure spaces remain fully functional and aesthetically appealing.
This role demands strong organizational skills, a team-oriented mindset, and a professional attitude, as it involves direct interaction with clients, colleagues, and vendors. The Maintenance Assistant/Day Porter will also assist in emergency lockout situations and help maintain office infrastructure such as ceiling tiles, carpet repairs, and furniture maintenance. Candidates must be able to work independently while following company procedures, ensuring safety and quality standards are met consistently.
CBRE offers competitive pay for this position, with wages ranging from $13.50 to $20.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. Employment with CBRE means joining a company that values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity. Employees benefit from a supportive culture and opportunities for growth while contributing to the successful operation of premier commercial properties. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are dependable, physically fit, and motivated to contribute to a thriving workplace environment by maintaining the high standards expected at CBRE properties.
