Job Description
Ebenezer is a renowned provider of residential and health care environments, with a rich history dating back to 1917. The organization is dedicated to offering supportive services and care to older adults, ensuring quality living experiences through its various senior living communities. One such community is Willows Bend Senior Living, located in Fridley, Minnesota. Willows Bend offers 136 beautifully designed apartment homes geared towards promoting an engaging and active lifestyle for older adults. The community provides a variety of living options, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care, tailored to meet the evolving needs of its residents. Strategically located along University Avenue near the 694 interchange and adjacent to the M Health Fairview Fridley Clinic, the community benefits from convenient access to public transportation such as bus lines and the Northstar light rail station, making commuting easier for both residents and staff. Developed by Ivy Properties and United Properties and managed by Ebenezer, Willows Bend combines quality development with experienced management to ensure a supportive and thriving environment for older adults.
The Maintenance Assistant role at Willows Bend Senior Living is a pivotal position within the senior living team responsible for ensuring the upkeep and smooth operation of building systems and equipment. This full-time, day-shift role works 72 hours every two weeks, typically from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with additional hours as work requires and weekend on-call responsibilities. The Maintenance Assistant plays a critical role in monitoring preventative maintenance programs, conducting necessary repairs, and training other building staff on basic troubleshooting of building systems and equipment. This position requires working closely with the maintenance team to address maintenance requests, perform routine checks on mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical equipment, and maintain the overall safety and appearance of the physical structure and grounds. Specific duties extend to repairing items identified as deficient, changing filters, checking belts on air handling units, inspecting kitchen and laundry equipment, and assisting with housekeeping tasks when necessary. The role also involves outdoor responsibilities such as snow removal, ice melting, trimming bushes and trees, and debris removal to keep the grounds safe, neat, and visually appealing. Additionally, the Maintenance Assistant supports apartment turnovers for new residents by addressing paint, carpentry, and cleaning needs. The ability to maintain a clean and orderly shop environment and process work orders efficiently is essential. The ideal candidate will bring at least one year of previous experience in maintenance, specifically with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, and possess a valid driver’s license. While a high school diploma or GED is preferred, the emphasis is on practical skills and experience relevant to the position. The role offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $19.82 to $27.98 and a generous benefits package including medical, dental, vision plans, life insurance, disability insurance, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, retirement options, and more. Through this position, Ebenezer aims to uphold its commitment to providing safe, comfortable, and well-maintained senior living environments where residents can thrive and feel secure.
