Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience in janitorial, custodial, grounds-keeping, or maintenance work preferred
- ability to operate power maintenance equipment
- mechanical aptitude
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
- good interpersonal skills
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting and climbing
Job Duties
- Clean classrooms, meeting rooms, bathrooms, corridors, walls by washing, waxing, buffing, sweeping, polishing, dusting, and vacuum cleaning
- empty and clean waste barrels, garbage cans, and other waste receptacles
- perform manual labor such as loading/unloading freight materials or equipment and delivering goods
- lock and unlock premises and report hazardous and unusual situations
- make general repairs of a simple nature
- operate electric trimmers, buffers, or other similar mechanical or power equipment
- perform routine manual tasks for grounds maintenance including grass cutting, clearing drains, snow removal, sanding or ice-melt spreading, cleaning walkways, roads, parking lots, painting fences, posts, and building exterior
- assist skilled trade technicians with routine tasks
- care for plants, trees, and flowers
- sweep sidewalks
- remove leaves and debris/rubbish
- perform other related duties as assigned
