Job Description
This job opening is for the position of Main Cook within the Operations department of a reputable dining establishment. The Main Cook role is a non-exempt position offering a pay rate of $24.50 per hour. The role reports directly to the Concept Manager and is integral to ensuring food preparation and service meet the highest quality standards.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of 1 year experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
- ability to follow standard portion sizes and cooking methods
- must be physically capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds
- strong communication skills
- ability to maintain clean and sanitary workstations
- willingness to work shifts including overtime and overnight differentials
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
- excellent customer service skills
- good communication skills
- good teamwork approach to daily tasks
- must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel
- be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
- be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time up to 10 hours
Job Duties
- Knows and complies consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures
- stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period
- portions food products according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
- maintains a clean and sanitary workstation area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, paste cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment
- follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
- assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed
- closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations
- assists others in closing the kitchen
- attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
- answer questions about food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services
- perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by line station assignment
- maintain clean service areas
- performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty
