Job Description
This job opening is for the position of Main Cook within the Operations department of a reputable dining establishment. The Main Cook role is a non-exempt position offering a pay rate of $24.50 per hour. The role reports directly to the Concept Manager and is integral to ensuring food preparation and service meet the highest quality standards.

As part of the team, the Main Cook plays a crucial role in the kitchen by accurately and efficiently serving meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot food products. This position requires attention to detail in portioning food products and preparing plated meals that are visually appealing and consistent with company standards.
The Main Cook is responsible for understanding and adhering to standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen policies and procedures. This includes effectively stocking and maintaining sufficient food product levels at line stations to ensure smooth service periods. The role involves preparing food according to established recipes and portion specifications, keeping workstations clean and sanitary, and following the proper plating and garnish setup for all menu items.
This position occasionally requires assistance in food preparation during off-peak periods and helping with closing duties, ensuring all kitchen operations are properly shut down. The Main Cook is also expected to participate in employee meetings and contribute suggestions for improvements. Strong communication skills are important as this role requires interaction with managers, kitchen staff, and dining room personnel to deliver exceptional customer service and food quality.
Physically, the Main Cook must be able to meet demands such as standing for long periods, reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally. This physically active role demands stamina and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of 1 year experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
- ability to follow standard portion sizes and cooking methods
- must be physically capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds

- willingness to work shifts including overtime and overnight differentials
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking

Job Duties
- Knows and complies consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures
- stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period
- portions food products according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
- maintains a clean and sanitary workstation area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, paste cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment
- follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
- assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed
- closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations
- assists others in closing the kitchen
- attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
- answer questions about food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services
- perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by line station assignment
- maintain clean service areas
- performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty
