Job Description

H-E-B is a renowned American supermarket chain, celebrated for its dedication to quality, customer service, and community involvement. Founded in 1905, H-E-B has grown to become one of the largest and most beloved grocery retailers in the United States, particularly well-known across Texas and Mexico. Their commitment to providing fresh, high-quality food products at competitive prices has earned them a loyal customer base and numerous awards for excellence in retail and employee satisfaction.

As a company, H-E-B places a strong emphasis on creating a positive work environment where employees, referred to as Partners, are empowered and supported to achieve their best. They invest significantly in training, professional development, and maintaining a safe workplace. The H-E-B culture promotes teamwork, respect, and a deep connection to the communities they serve.

The Food Production Cook role at H-E-B is an integral part of their fast-paced restaurant environment. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about food preparation and customer service and thrive in dynamic settings. As a Food Production Cook, you will be responsible for preparing fast, fresh, and high-quality food items while maintaining rigorous food safety and sanitation standards.

In this role, the Food Production Cook preps ingredients by cutting, slicing, dicing, and chopping according to recipe specifications and standard operating procedures. Additionally, you will prepackage condiments like sauces and dressings that accompany prepared food items. Working at assigned stations and assisting across multiple cooking venues ensures a variety of culinary experiences and skill development.

Beyond food prep, a critical component of this position involves adhering to H-E-B’s food safety and sanitation protocols. This includes properly handling and storing ingredients to maintain their temperature integrity, cleaning and sanitizing food preparation areas consistently, and operating kitchen equipment safely. Being a team player is essential to foster a clean, productive, and safe work environment.

Customer service is also a key responsibility. Although primarily focused on food prep, you will provide internal customer service within the kitchen and assist guests as needed, contributing to a positive customer experience.

This position typically requires open availability, including the ability to work rotating shifts, frequent evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, lifting up to 55 pounds independently and more with team assistance, and performing various movements necessary to navigate and operate safely in a busy kitchen environment.

Candidates for this role should have a high school diploma or GED, possess culinary knowledge, and demonstrate the ability to execute high-volume food production efficiently. While preferred, prior experience in food preparation, food service equipment handling, related culinary certifications or equivalent training also enhance a candidate’s qualifications.

H-E-B's Food Production Cook position represents an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to develop their culinary skills within a supportive, growth-oriented company committed to excellence in food quality and customer service. Employees in this role contribute directly to ensuring H-E-B’s customers receive fresh, delicious meals quickly and enjoyably in a safe and welcoming atmosphere.
