The Runner position is a part-time opportunity based in Madison, WI, with openings at several prominent venues including The Sylvee, The Orpheum Theater, Majestic, and High Noon Saloon. This role is crucial for supporting the production team by maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring artists’ needs are met during events. Runners play a vital role in creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for both staff and patrons, contributing significantly to the overall success of performances.

Responsibilities of the Runner include assisting with production requests, purchasing and delivering supplies from local vendors, managing cash and receipts, maintaining cleanliness backstage and in green rooms, and adhering to company protocols as set by venue management. The position demands a high level of professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Runners must have strong communication skills and the capacity to handle sensitive situations with discretion.

Candidates must be at least 21 years old for alcohol purchase responsibilities and at least 25 years old to operate rental vehicles, reflecting the company’s compliance with legal and safety standards. The position also requires a valid driver’s license, a personal vehicle, and proof of insurance to facilitate transportation needs effectively. Knowledge of Madison and the surrounding areas, especially regarding local restaurants and stores, is essential to fulfill timely procurement duties.

The work environment for Runners involves physical activity such as standing, walking, lifting objects up to 50 pounds, and navigating stairs. Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older for alcohol purchases
  • Must be 25 years of age or older for rental vehicles

  • Knowledge of city and surrounding areas including restaurants and local stores

Job Duties

  • Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for staff and patrons
  • Assist the production team to execute the agreed-upon specific needs and requests of the artists and crew
  • Purchase and deliver various products and materials from local spots
  • Maintain cash and receipts throughout the day
  • Assist in keeping the green room tidy and sanitized
  • Ensure backstage areas are clean and free of clutter
  • Follow company protocol as communicated by venue management
  • All other duties as assigned
