The role of the CNC Lathe or Mill Machinist within Benchmark is vital to the manufacturing team’s success. This position involves operating and setting up CNC machines such as DMG Mori 5-Axis Mill-Turn with Celos controls, OKK and Niigata mills with Fanuc controls, HAAS mills, DMG Mori NLX-4000 lathes with Celos controls, and Doosan VTL and Mori Seiki horizontal lathes with Fanuc controls. Successful candidates will assist the engineering department in planning operations, selecting cutting tools, aligning workpieces, and managing machine speeds and feeds.

This role demands a thorough understanding of CNC machine functions and G-code language. The machinist will independently set up and run CNC lathes and mills, perform program edits and adjustments, inspect finished work for conformance using precision measuring devices, and collaborate with the inspection department. Preventative machine maintenance and adherence to safety policies, 6S principles, and lean manufacturing are also integral responsibilities. Employees are expected to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, the ability to interpret engineering documents and safety rules, and effective communication abilities to complete work orders and collaborate effectively.

Located in Concord, California, this full-time position operates on a Friday to Sunday schedule from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM across shift 8. Benchmark considers this a safety-sensitive role, emphasizing the importance of following workplace regulations and creating a safe work environment.

Compensation for this role ranges from $41.00 to $52.00 USD per hour, depending on a variety of factors including skills, certifications, and experience.
