Job Description

Cordant from Baker Hughes is a renowned energy technology company dedicated to advancing the energy sector with innovative solutions. With a rich history spanning over a century and operations in more than 120 countries, Baker Hughes has established itself as a leader in delivering safer, cleaner, and more efficient energy technologies and services. Cordant, operating under the Baker Hughes umbrella, offers a comprehensive suite of software, services, and Bently Nevada condition monitoring and protection hardware designed to enhance asset reliability across diverse industries including Oil & Gas, chemical, and power generation sectors. Their specialized services encompass pre-commissioning, commissioning, and maintenance shutdowns, making them a trusted partner for customers aiming to achieve peak performance and reliability of their critical assets.

The Machinery Diagnostics Field Engineer role at Cordant is an exciting opportunity for professionals seeking to apply their engineering expertise in a dynamic field environment. This position involves providing end-to-end service solutions that address the critical needs of rotating machinery assets, protection, and monitoring systems. The engineer will diagnose machinery issues using vibration and operational data combined with direct customer communications. Traveling to customer sites is a core aspect of this role, supporting service delivery and building trusted advisor relationships with clients concerning their rotating equipment health.

Responsibilities include evaluating machinery conditions via rotor dynamic analysis, diagnosing problems, preparing detailed reports with findings and recommendations, managing balance weight placement, and strictly adhering to Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) standards. This role demands substantial travel—up to 70%—and readiness for overtime work, making it suitable for highly motivated candidates comfortable with frequent site visits both onshore and offshore. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanical, along with a minimum of two years of industry experience, are essential for success. Candidates must also possess a valid driver’s license and passport, and be eligible for specialized credentials such as the Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).

Ideal candidates will demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge of reliability services, hold ISO certification in vibration analysis, and exhibit strong communication abilities to clearly articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences. Familiarity with mechanical troubleshooting, reading mechanical prints, understanding rotating machinery operations and control systems, and experience with machinery protection and management systems are highly valued. Additionally, prior experience or knowledge in mechanical vibration, rotodynamic analysis, predictive maintenance data evaluation, balancing, and alignment is important. Familiarity with Bently Nevada products and Cordant’s service offerings, along with basic computer networking skills and proficiency in MS Office, rounds out the specialist skill set.

Joining Cordant means becoming part of a forward-thinking team that values diversity, authentic engagement, and personal development. The company invests heavily in workforce well-being, offers comprehensive training, and fosters leadership growth at all levels. Employees benefit from contemporary work-life balance policies, private medical care options, life insurance, disability coverage, flexible financial programs, education assistance, parental leave, mental health resources, and dependent care benefits. This role provides a competitive salary, eligibility for bonuses, and participation in robust company-sponsored health and welfare programs as well as retirement plans. If you are a Field Engineer ready to make a tangible impact in the energy sector and thrive in a collaborative, safety-focused, and innovative environment, Cordant invites you to take energy forward with them.
