Job Description

Stock Yards is a long-established company with over 120 years of experience providing chefs and food service professionals with expertly cut and portioned beef and pork products. Known for their rigorous meat selection criteria, precise beef aging process, and expert trimming skills, Stock Yards has developed a reputation for delivering high-quality meat products tailored to meet a variety of dining needs ranging from upscale white-linen presentation dinners to casual family-style meals. The company works closely with procurement experts to source the best meat quality options suitable for diverse budgets and pack size requirements, ensuring a well-rounded offering to their customers. Stock Yards operates within the broader foodservice distribution network of US Foods, a leading foodservice distributor in the United States. This connection provides employees the opportunity to work within a respected and established name in the food industry with access to resources and benefits of a large company.

The role being hiring for is that of a Meat Processing Operator at the Stock Yards Facility. This position is a full-time, first-shift role scheduled from Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with the possibility of overtime depending on workload. The Meat Processing Operator will spend the majority of their time operating meat processing equipment such as CryoVac, MultiVacs, Dicings, Needles, Slicers, Portion Cutters, and Scales to prepare and pack meat products according to customer specifications and company standards. Employees in this role must be comfortable working in a refrigerated environment between 35 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit, maintaining focus on safety and sanitation practices to meet Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.

A typical day involves cutting, trimming, portioning, labeling, packing, and merchandising meat cuts to ensure they meet quality and presentation requirements set forth by both the company and the customers. The role is physical, requiring frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and grasping various weights and packages of meat products. The environment is fast-paced and demands precision and efficiency while adhering to strict safety and sanitation guidelines. Employees are expected to maintain cleanliness in the cutting room, proper setup and teardown of packing and labeling areas, operate equipment safely, and support end-of-day functions.

Candidates for this position are preferred to have experience working with meat processing machinery and possess some knowledge of the various poultry, beef, lamb, and pork products, as well as USDA grades and standards. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred but not mandatory. There is no direct supervision responsibility for this role, but teamwork and communication with internal employees and sales teams are part of the job duties.

Compensation starts between $22.00 and $24.00 per hour based on the candidate's skills, experience, education, geographic location, and other applicable factors. This role also offers overtime compensation as needed. In terms of benefits, employees can expect comprehensive health insurance options, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement savings plans, paid time off, disability coverages, employee stock purchase programs, and life insurance coverage, reflecting the company’s commitment to supporting its workforce. Stock Yards and US Foods champion diversity and equal opportunity, welcoming applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, genetic information, veteran status, or disability.
